I cut an Elton John mix CD a while ago. It flows very nicely from song to song and has a few sleeper tunes on it that you've probably NEVER heard on the radio. I think one of my all-time favorites is "Simple Life". Elton had a few crappy songs on some of his albums, but in my opinion he's been ridiculously prolific at producing some of the greatest tunes ever. He's a legend!

What an incredible song - it moves me right to my soul even after all these years. Thank you Elton & Bernie ( and of course all the musicians, Davey Johnstone - Dee Murray - Nigel Olson come to mind ) for the many, many hours of happiness you gave me. Hah ! I just recalled - ! - Elton John is the reason my older brother is a professional musician - keyboards stacked 3 high wrapped all around him. Funny how much you can influence someone you've never met, huh ?

that depends what mood i'm in -

if i'm blue i like candle in the wind, when i feel energetic and positive i love to
listen to i'm still standing.

but all in all i'd say elton's best song is elderberry wine.

I've been a fan since my teens.

As for ones that haven't been mentioned, I like quite a few from "Sleeping with the Past," but especially the title song and "Healing Hands."

"Daniel" is a great tune but it never made any sense. Here is the secret; Bernie left the fourth verse out when he sent it to Elton to record. The fourth verse tied it all together and explained the song. I guess That's Rock and Roll!
