    mycoupons members urgent please read

    I am posting this in the hope that those of you who have not joined, will read this and get a true perspective of what is going on before you make your decision;
I am not a loyal member, and have posted, my reason for doign so were purely monetary, but now I would not join if they paid me.
    For some reason my coupons files must be out of whack and for some reason Barb sent me the following e-mail;

    Something you should read.

    Let's Talk Reply

    Lifetime Members,

I see post after post of lifetime members bowing to
the naysayer group, even saying things as "I won't
post on the new boards" and also "I don't want two
boards." AND..."the clover isn't important to me, they
can do away with it as far as I'm concerned."

I even deleted two long threads of "About Loyal Member
Gripes" that was member after member talking like this
    to their compadres.

I know you are feeling "separated" right now. But this
is temporary. It will even out, and all will be well.
If I were a lifetime member, I'd be posting replies
    like:
    "It's fun at the LMBoards."
"We don't have secrets there, we have fun there."
"C'mon over and join us - see for yourself."
and other POSITIVE replies I know you can think of.

Do not copy/paste things from board to board!

Ya'll want one board again. You need to be patient.
With time, LMBoards will be the major board here. Will
you help to speed this process? You are here already -
you are here for a Lifetime! You can enjoy it now!

Post your deals right here; post your trades right
here; post your reward programs here; and post your
parenting and family matters right here. We became the
#1 site with open boards; now we have the opportunity
to become the #1 Lifetime Membership Board.

They will follow....they will come.....because they
will hear "good positive talk" from the members here
    now.

We understand you want your friends to be here with
you. But telling them that you won't post here is not
the answer. It just delays the process.

    Happy Day!

I copied and pasted it to the boards, becuase I thought all should be aware of this- My post was dele tedI was banned from further posting on any of the boards, but fortuately some people had the chance to read it.

    Then I recieved the following e-mail from Barb-maybe they "the loyals" have their own newsletter or something!;

Do you see what I mean? That is an example of a
jealous person who wants to be here, but is just
trying to convince you to go along with their
thinking. By you replying you won't be posting here,
only the old boards, you are just hurting our cause,
and hurting yourselves by delaying your friends
    decision to come over here.

Of course, you did not pay for the purpose of getting
the "clover". But the clover should be worn proudly!
First - it shows you care about this site. You love
MyCoupons(tm) Shopping Boards - the clover is our
icon. The naysayers are trying to make you feel
ashamed - don't let them do this to you. You have
nothing to be ashamed of -- and everything to be proud
    of.

Following this post, I will post the story of the icon
and how it came into existence. Maybe that will help
you wear your clover with pride.

All these things people are saying, they are saying to
get to you.... and in some instances, they are
succeeding. If your reason is because there are some
who cannot afford the $20, certainly you know they are
not being ignored. (Members are helping Members - what
a wonderful bunch we have.) I'm sure you noticed, the
people who are saying these things to you are most
times not the ones in dire need. They are merely
believing the naysayers, and trying to turn around
your thinking too. Don't let them do this to you.

WHY do I ask for your help? Because we have a goal
here. We have a goal to save the fact there is "any"
MyCoupons.com. Remember, the goal here is a big one,
and we need everyone's help. We CAN do this! We WILL
do this -- with your help.

Let's move ahead in a positive manner and positive
    posting.

    Happy Day!

I was tempted to join..... I don't think I will. I like DOD better I've only posted coupon trades on mycoupons and a few other forums lately.

I understand the websites are to help everyone save money by posting deals & coupons. And there is nothing wrong with the owners making a few $$ off of you by adding thier own links (It does cost $$$$ to run & maintain a board such as this).

I will not pay $20.00 to join MC when you can post anywhere to get the same coupons trades, online coupons & deals for FREE.

I'm sorry to say that there aren't too many "loyal" members as they want loyal to be. If someone finds a better trade or deal, they will go to another forum, especially if there aren't too many responses to trade you've posted and so forth.

I'm not trying to talk bad about MC, except there isn't anything there that I would want to pay $20.00 to become a lifetime member. And if you can't post your OPINIONS w/o it being deleted..... they are only hurting themselves and eventually people will find better boards.... like DOD

I am not a member there, nor do I ever want to be. Reading her emails to you, I fully expect at any time to pick up the paper and find that she and some of her zealots have donned space uniforms and are waiting to join the mother ship. Sure sounds like a cult leader to me.

a bunch of mycoupon members have headed over to fishinfordeals.com and posting their gripes-so much so that fishingfordeals server crashed, for the freebie, deals and other boads and they are using a emergency board until they get the problem fixed-I think mycoupons will be a thing of the past-the only ones left might be the loyals-just for the fact the $20 they paid is non refundable

They made "puds" screwed list over at f*ckedcompany.com today (I'm trying to keep the post clean mods, but that's the website's name). Anyway, awesome and funny site which monitors layoffs and essentially company's whose luck has run out (hence the site name), giving "points" to those who spill the beans.

    Anyway, here's the blurb...
    Employees, 100% off
The once mighty MyCoupons.com, which was sold for $23 million to Save.com and was then bought back for $5 million, sent this email ( http://www.****edcompany.com/extras/mycoupons_email.cfm ) to users, essentially asking them for charity.
    Company: MyCoupons.com
    Points: 198

I have been a member at MyCoupons.com for almost 3 years. I just cannot believe all the "crap" that is going on there. I must admit, it all really kinda blew my mind. I think from now on, this site will be my "home". I really think it is sad what they are doing to the members there.

i am a member of their boards, only posting a "thanks!' when someone posted some hidden milesource links. I copied those links to my favorites folder here on IE because if they do go to a paid only, I won't be able to access the links.

I'd rather be here at this board, anyway. They don't allow referrals at their board at all.

Umm.. sounds to me like somebody is just a wee bit insecure! With emails like that - worded oddly, throwing insults - even about their own members and quite "I'm talking out my *ss in hopes you believe me" tone.... how can she expect even long term members to want to stay? I had heard about this site and thought of checking it out but after reading that, I don't think so.

And honestly! Paying money for the same things you can get for free at thousands of other sites is just plain ridiculous!

more info on Jason the Scam Artist

I was just at a website caled f*ckedcompany.com

I ran across a posting that I thought would be of interest to all who have been with mycoupons in the past, or are continuing with mycoupons.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yahoo post definitely worth mentioning. Can anyone validate this claim?

Although I have pretty much stayed out of this situation with Jason

since it began, I did attempt to try and raise questions in the

beginning that would cause people to take a minute to THINK before

they started handing credit card numbers over to Jason to "bail him

out". It sickens me now to see those who already handed him $20,

offer to CONTINUE handing him money in the name of "prepaid

scholarships". This isn't the first time Jason has

    solicited "donations"....

Many people on this list may remember, or may have been a member, of

a listserv Jason ran in 1997 called Coupontrader. At the

time, "free" listservs through yahoo, etc were around, and those who

offered listservs were paying a monthly fee to supply the "service".

I was a member of this listserv. Jason announced in the summer of

1997 that he would like to "sell" the listserv to another member, and

had an asking price of $400. No one took him up on his offer.

So Jason had another plan. He posted with the offer that if all

members sent in a $5 donation, he would PREPAY the listserv for a

period of one year, turn the listserv over to a member who was voted

upon by all other members as "moderator", and would have the new

moderator listed with the company as new "owner". The membership

would then have a one year period (that they had paid for with their

donations) to come up with plans for fundraising for the following

    year.

Donations were sent by the majority of almost 200 members, a vote was

taken, and new moderators were named. Jason then began the immediate

process of changing ownership. One of the moderators, however,

eventually chose to leave the list when Jason refused to provide a

paid receipt showing the listserv was paid in full for the one year

period. Jason felt that his honesty should not be questioned.

The second moderator continued to run the listserv, quite

successfully, and membership grew rapidly. However, five months into

the "one year prepay period", the moderator received notification

that the listserv was to be shut down for non-payment.

The original moderator was contacted, as well as Jason, and emails

flew back and forth (although Jason did repeatedly ask that they call

him to "discuss this" on THEIR DIME, of course. Now where have I

heard that since?). Jason had one story after another, but the

company held fast that they had NOT been paid! After repeatedly

getting caught in one lie after another, Jason finally broke down and

    told the truth.

He said he was having "financial troubles" and needed to "borrow" the

donation money to get his coupon clipping business started. He said

that he had INTENDED to just make monthly payments (behind the backs

of the moderator and membership who were told that THEIR money had

already been given to the company), but that he had gotten "behind".

    I consider this STEALING!

I am not sure who eventually paid the account in full. While the

moderator was determined to get the money out of Jason, I know she

also did not want to involve or disrupt the successfully running

listserv at the time by alerting the membership of what had actually

    happened....to THEIR MONEY!

THIS is the type of person Jason is, and this current situation is

smelling awfully familiar....he just has a larger "audience" this

time. It is very disturbing to watch people continue to fork money

over, even with all his "secrets" exposed! ARGH

Even more aggravating is watching friendships deteriorate, and focus

being drawn away from Jason himself, and instead being directed at

former/current users of MC. Jason should BURN for that, because HE

and Barb are responsible for that.

    Baffled

I am so glad I found you guys here.

I went to MC and tried to post some things last night before I went to bed.

For those of you who have left MC, you may not know this, but they are now moderating every single post. So, your post gets queued, and the read by a moderator before it is posted.

So right before I went to bed, I typed away, hit submit, and got the notice that it wouldn't show up right away. I had to edit one of the things I posted. I kept waiting, hoping it would show up soon, but it didn't. I finally gave up and went to bed. Guess what? It's morning now, and I am still not posted.

Like I said, I'm so glad I found you guys!
