Thread: Just got a nasty email from Spedia!

Well, the day after Christmas, I received the nastiest email from Spedia. For those of you who aren't familiar with spedia it is a paybar type program. Well, I use it exclusively, have no other paybar programs on my computer, etc. I never spam with the account, no referrals, etc. I have signed up for nearly every program they have offered, even use my personal email account for this one.

In the email they told me that I had a program on my computer that was incompatible to the spedia bar. I took my computer to the shop and they said that I have nothing on the computer like spedia indicated. They said that they would be freezing my account and that it would not be reinstated for now. I wonder if the fact that I have over $72 owed from Spedia for programs that I have signed up for recently has anything to do with the fact that they don't want me anymore.

What makes this worse is that my son and husband also have a Spedia account, and neither of them has gotten the email. We all use the same computer.

Also, the paybar rarely works, so I very seldom (about 20 to 30 minutes per month) use it.

Anyone else having a problem with Spedia? I wrote them back and sent them a request for written documentation for their actions.

Hi Mb: If I were you, I would try and call them and see if you can work it out over the phone. If this does not work, go through http://www.ugetheard.com and register a complaint and see if there are any others with the same problem...

http://www.ugetheard.com is a great site that sticks with it till some type of correction is made. The send follow up letters etc. You can also see if you can do this through another program, getting points at the same time, i.e., maybe Freeride, memolink etc.

Keep us posted and good luck!

Yes, I love UGETHEARD, I think I will try forming a good email to send to all the sponsors of Spedia that I recently signed up for as well as a back up if I don't get a satisfactory response.

Also, I sent them a report from my computer center to let them know that nothing as they claimed in their email was on my computer. I would be curious to know what their status as a .net is lately.

I know that they take forever to pay, but I have gotten several direct deposits from them through compubank.

This really hurt my feelings, I mean I could understand if I was a spammer or was taking advantage of their program, but, I have been a big supporter of the site, and have even written positive reviews about them on the epinions site (I'm deleting that one).

Thank goodness for Deal of Day, I get my therapy here.

Spedia does this frequently, especially to people with a balance as large as yours. They will take the money in your account, then cancel your account and say you cheated (and you know you did not!).

Funny thing is ....they will let you sign back up under the same email. They just do not want to pay people!

All(Dis)Advantage is doing the same thing to its surfers. Neither one wants to pay. With the advertising dollars that go into these companies dwindling fast, they have been terminating accounts or placing holds on accounts as you outline above inorder to pay the bills. I do not think they are being greedy, they just do not manage their companies very well. Maybe they should close their doors and seek employement elsewhere.

Stear clear of Spedia. Use Paid For Surf at

    http://www.paidforsurf.com

They pay...I have received checks. The bar runs for a few minutes after you quit surfing, not like the Spedia "Bar of Death".

Thanks for the info. I think that I will pursuit legal measures against spedia. Funny thing is, they claim to be the most popular program on the net, yet they seem to have lots of mad patrons. Thanks for your info, it helps me know I am not alone.

You say that you had someone look at your computer to see if you had a software conflict. That had to cost $35.00 to $50.00. Plus driving time to and from the vendor. These little games that Spedia and AA play COST the consumer money.

You can send a letter to the Attorney State General (yours and theirs) to start. I did not want to take the time.

I have been reading that AA is just about done; they let go of another 200-300 people

Yes, the computer doctor cost me $50 and I mainly did it to make sure that my computer didn't have a virus, or anything that would impede the spedia program. Spedia has yet to reply to me since I threatened legal action. I am going to file something against them. I have already sent them a certified letter.

Wonder how many others are in this boat? I think the day of the paybar may be gone, Although they sure do seem to know a lot about our computers, etc.
