Make yourself a cashmere scarf
This one is actually pretty easy. First check out your local clothing thrift stores, find either a mans or ladies cashmere sweater. They sell for around $6-$8 depending upon where you live. Measure how wide you want your scarf to be, cut the sweater apart but make sure to leave extra material on the sides to allow for the hem, then stitch both sides and stitch the bottom part way on sewing machine. Finish stitching the bottom closed with tiny hand stitching. You may have to stitch two pieces together to get the length you want, so you will end up with a seam at the back of the neck. Lastly, bring your new scarf to the dry cleaners, let air out about a week before wearing. Now snuggle up and enjoy it.

Good one!
There are lots of other articles of clothing too that are not good as what they were originally intended, but we can make new good stuff out of the fabric.
I also look for great buttons on things...when you need a certain type of button they are often very expensive to buy retail.

You're right, buttons cost so much money. When I throw out a shirt which is no longer wearable, I just save all the buttons from it.
