BTW-I just wanted first to get it working in either your's or my signature line at DOD, but I wanted to use my host page-using your's won't resolve the problem.

Sorry to hear that DOD is painfully slow for you-still no emails

Re: MrB frog test

I looked at the source(code) for bannerpage.htm ,and I noticed that geocities put some of it's code for it's popup ad. I wonder if this could be causing the problem-but you can't remove it-

I pasted-maybe makes sense to you:

Re: MrB frog test

This explains why it isn't working I believe.

Getting Images On The Web
(fridgemagnet) If you have an image on your own computer and you want to post it on the board - basically, you can't. You need to get it up on the web first. For this you will need either an image host, or some webspace of your own. Most ISPs provide you with a certain amount of webspace. Since these facilities vary, your best bet is to look at your ISP's help pages to find out how to get files up on the web. Once you've done that and you can see the image in your browser, copy its URL as above into the IMG tag.
There are also free image hosts out there, some of which are listed on FreeImageHostingServices. Sites like Geocities don't normally let you link, as mentioned above, unless you use...

The Geocities Image Trick
(may work on other free hosts like Tripod too): If you have your own Geocities site and you want to link to images thereon, just change the extension of the file, so that rather than being image.jpg (or whatever) it is now image.txt (or something else that's not jpg, gif, png, or one of the other image extensions). Then you can link to it with the methods above, because Geocities blocks linking based on the extension not the file type. Won't work for linking to images on someone else's Geocities site, obviously.

Well since it's going well-I have to see if the image will work inside a post & signature. Finger's crossed. <LOL>

Re: MrB frog test

Toby-It looks like the only thing not working for myself is email. Maybe your provider is doing the same thing as Geocities ?? I changed the name of file(s) from .gif to .txt
Also had to change html code on hosting web page. Works like a charm

Re: MrB frog test

I can get images to post - just not geocities - so thank you for the information. I don't use geocities as you know, I'm my own dot com. But that helps to know. Glad you got it all working.

You just can't get your images to work inside a post-correct? Yes-I saw that you have your own dot com...I'm to cheap I thought you would find the little trick with Geocities interesting..ya never know when another person will run into same situation.

Re: MrB frog test

I can get images to post in a post and in a signature.

I cannot get attachments to work and I'm not changing any MTU settings just for DOD. So, that's where I'm at. Thanks for the geocities hint - might need it for someone else someday, eh?

Missing out on email notifications is Huge for me. It's definitely made my DOD experience lacking and I do hope it's corrected soon.
