I still have a few of these left. I have traded with the people above and things went very smoothly. I got these in a trade at another board which is why I can let them go so cheaply. I need other GC's now that I can give as gifts or use to buy gifts with. I am taking Paypal as well. Thanks again! |

DO NOT DO THIS DEAL Things did not go smoothly on my deal. I got a call from Gift Baskets that the gift certificates had not been issued yet and they were not going to process my orders. I have already paid for the trade and am sure amystery2u@hotmail.com will do the right thing but for now DO NOT DO THIS DEAL. As I get more information I will post it. ------------------ |

Just my two cents as a word of caution for everyone: Be careful when trading with someone who is totally new on ANY board-not just Deal of Day. I bounce around a few different boards and I'm always reading about people being scammed. Fortunately this does not happen much at DOD, but there is not a lot of trading here either (compared to some other boards where there are pages of trades every day). This person had only 2 posts when they posted this trade. That raises my suspicion immediately! Also-if you pay through paypal, make sure the person is at least verified. I'm not sure on the minimum amount, but I know that they guarantee transactions with verified members. Paypal will tell you whether or not the person you are sending money to is verified before you send your money. Doesn't sound hopeful Ronlynn, but maybe this person will return your gc's or payment (if they were gc's online-maybe you should try to use the numbers before they do? Chances are that they are already spent!) If not, I would definitely get a moderator involved and maybe they can either contact them or tell you who this person really is (ISP number?). |

I assure you I did not scam anyone... I will be contacting giftbaskets.com to find out if they are going to honor the GC's anyhow, because they never mentioned that they would not be following through on the orders. I traded with a person by the name of gcseller at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or
Register Now] for these codes and so obviously I was the one who was dooped!! I will refund any trades if giftbaskets.com does not follow through. I placed two orders with the company as well and I have not received any such email so I am wondering what is going to happen with my order as well!! In the mean time I still have two more codes that I traded for that are apparent'y worthless... I am a victim myself!! I have over 500+ posts at mycoupons, just because I am new here doesn't make me a scammer!! I did check to see if the GC's worked before I traded and they did... I also informmed them that I got these from another trade. I was very upfront and didn't try to hide anything!! Please don't slam me if you don't know me. |

| I don't believe that you are out to scam anyone either. As a matter of fact, I thought it was very decent of you to offer to make your portion of the trade first since you were new here and to avoid anyone questioning your motives. Additionally, I believed you so much that I e-mailed you last night (my work e-mail account). I admit that often I am leary to deal with someone who just registers here and then posts a trade.. it's just my personal choice. However, I had no problem dealing with you because of your post and the way you were up front. Please don't have hard feelings. Let me know if I can help you in any way. I just got off the phone with Giftbaskets.com and I am completely cleared now of any wrong doing. They have the name of the person who stole the GC's (Brian Gentry), and are currently working on tracking him down for prosecution. I have refunded the above people thier money and so in the end the only victim on this board is ME! For those who didn't think the worst of me I thank you, as for the others... shame on you... =o( |

Amystery2u- Sorry if you think that you were slammed, but I was just pointing out the obvious to everyone. There are alot of people who just register to either spam or sell something under false pretenses. Why else would someone totally new get on a message board and try to sell something? Why not use a board that you frequent where people already "know" who you are? If you had called to verify the GC's you traded, you could have avoided the whole mess-so shame on you for not doing so before you traded them. Try not to get so offended and take it personally~people on all message boards see the others as their friends and don't like to see trades end badly. I'm glad that you cleared everything up and it's too bad that your first experience with DOD made you feel this way, but you are partially responsible. I hope that everything works out with your other order and you can get your money back from the person you traded with. |

quote:
Originally posted by weepy: Amystery2u- Why not use a board that you frequent where people already "know" who you are? If you had called to verify the GC's you traded, you could have avoided the whole mess-so shame on you for not doing so before you traded them.

To answer these two points... The reason I didn't post at mycoupons was because thats where I bought them from the other seller... I wanted to post somewhere where the was "compitition, if you will" for the trade. Secondly, I already stated that I verified that the GC's worked before I traded them (and they did work!! GB.com just contacted everyone after the purchase to let them know they wouldn't be honoring the GCs)... do you call every company prior to accepting a trade to make sure that the GC's aren't stolen?? I sure as the heck don't! Even with this mistake I will not being doing that. If that is what you do then you are a very cynical person and I pray that you learn to have some trust. Yes, this was a bad deal for me and I was scammed big time, but will that keep me from ever trading again, NO! Will I ever trade at this board, probably not... I don't need finger pointers bringing me down. As stated already... I do appreciate the people who didn't think the worst of me and I thank you for trying to make me feel welcome, its just posters like this that make a welcome hard to accept. |

Usually I don't jump into these things that don't involve me, but reading this string...*sigh* weepy, it's just my opinion, but you were kind of harsh in BOTH of your posts. "Doesn't look hopeful" just assuming this was a scammer before the person had a chance to fix things??? And then your second post sounds like YOU are blaming the person you slammed? Didn't notice an attempt at an apology on your part. I TOTALLY understand the need to protect ourselves in the online environment. I don't understand prejudice against new members posting trades, or anything else. I wonder how many people will buy a computer this week, get online, hey..maybe even join DealofDay and try to make a trade Do you see where I am going with this? We don't know WHY somebody doesn't have a lot of posts. And what is to say someone with a million posts isn't going to try and pull one over on someone or hey....MAYBE EVEN HAVE A DEAL GO SOUTH BECAUSE OF SOMETHING THEY DON'T CONTROL!! Don't blame this on the person not calling to verify gift certificates, look at your posts and then look in the mirror.

Momtoon~I am offering no apology. I did not feel as though I said anything wrong. I simply stated a fact-that alot of people sign up on different message boards to scam people-plain and simple. Just thought I would let people know who did not already know this. As for the OP correcting this problem-good for them. He/she is not a hero for doing this-it's the right thing to do. I feel that the person making the trade is ultimately responsible for the trade and should make sure that it is a good one. I'm glad it was straightened out in the end. I'm sorry that he/she was scammed-maybe if someone had warned her ahead of time she wouldn't have been. That's all I was trying to do. As for calling and verifying gift certificates before using them-I ALWAYS do this. It does not make my cynical, just practical. I received bad Target GC's from Powerdime and learned the hard way. I also received a Walmart GC (from Walmart directly) recently from the deal on the internet deals board with NO money on it-they forgot to fill a whole batch of them and are sending me out new cards. I'm glad that I checked before giving them to people as gifts~how do you think they would have felt had I given them bad gift certificates for Christmas? They are for people I do business with-that would have looked great for me. I NEVER would have traded a GC with anyone without verifying by phone that this GC was good-especially if I got it from someone else in the first place. By the same token, I also would not go to a store and try to use a gift certificate without verifying that the money was there. I personally would be horrified and embarrassed had I traded a gift certificate with someone that was not valid. As for having predjudice against new members-why would I? I was a new member too once and I am a new member to alot of other boards that I post infrequently on. This has nothing to do with not welcoming new members. I was just giving my word of caution to other DODers who might not realize that this happens frequently. As for looking in the mirror-I have no idea what you are talking about with that one. Since I consider this something that has gotten blown way out of proportion-I'm considering my end to be closed. I'm sorry I ever got involved in this topic and won't be involved any further-which includes reading or replying to this post. I do not come here to argue and I won't be involved in this type of problems ever again. I consider DOD to be a small community of people-even though there thousands of members-and don't wish to have problems with any of them. I will think twice about trying to help out my fellow DODers any more. Someone posted that they had problems and I responded with what I thought was an appropriate response on how to resolve them. I don't harbor any ill feelings against the OP~let her trade away! |

just a suggestion- I use trade-angel.com for my trading. It is free and easy. They have a forum where u post what you want to trade and what you would like back. If you are trading a gift certificate, after you find a person to trade with, you send trade-angel your gc and the other person sends theirs too--to trade-angel. They then verify that they are legitimate and they make the switch for you. It is free and safe. There are more details on their site. I highly reccomend them. |
