The Christmas season is approaching, and what better way to count our blessings than to help one of our own? My SIL, 32, has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She is a single mother and lives in a very small rental house. Unfortunately, the house has two sets of stairs, both of which she has fallen down repeatedly, narrowly escaping serious injury. So, with the help of the MS Society, we are trying to help her purchase a home that is wheelchair-accessible and has no stairs. In order to help with the down-payment, I am hosting a fundraiser (A Home For The Holidays) this December. It includes dinner and a silent auction. And, as I sat here wondering where else I could look for items, I came across my DOD link. So many of you have received GREAT deals and freebies...you know, $20 off $20.01 and free shipping..or no minimum? I know I have. So, my question is this: Is there anything collecting dust in your closet that you never even opened? Something in there that you HAD to get (because it was a great freebie) but don't really need? Travel coffee mugs come to mind, Drugstore.com free kits, things like that? Why not pass those on to the auction, and help out someone REALLY in need? (BTW...if you are questioning the validity of this both Kim Everett-Martin and Mayor have helped out!)
Thanks so much!
