Exclamation

I was trying to exchange my $50 super g.c. from giftcertificate.com. I posted it on this board. I came in contact with somebody and gave the "serial number" two days before. But so far have not received anything form her. Today I checked and found that my g.c. has been redeemed.

I would advise to excercise caution while trading with people. I don't no what to do???

webshopper,
I am very sorry to hear about your experiences. I hope the matter gets cleared up soon. I wouldn't know what to do if that happened to me.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Angry

Those type of poeple really get me *&^%$%^(mad)!!!
I was doing alot of trading in newgroups about two years ago. I was a trader of movies, rare and uncut horror and ect.. type movies.
On the newgroups when someone did this we posted there name & address and IP address for everyone to see and it was spread all over the internet as a thief and a bad trade. Because us trades on the newgroups where all friend or like a clan trying to stop bad trades we had certen types of friends on the internet that could trace that persons IP address and get the home address, phone# and other info. And sometime if there was a trader living in that area they would go knocking on that persons door asking for the payment or movies back.
If anyone thinks that there safe on the web and want to rip people of you better think twice. Lets just say if you ever rip me off there will be someone knocking on your door!

And to the person that ripped off webshopper, (if this is what happen) you need to come clear and pay her. You'll never know who might be knock on your door one day!

To everybody that trades here, i would make a post of good trades and bad trades. That we can make things a little safer around here. There will always be those that will steal, but before warn to those that are thinking of stealing, there are ways of finding who you are!!!!

webshopper,

If you have the email for this $50 super g.c call giftcertificate.com and tell them you tried to use the code and it didn't work and that you think someone stoled it! Sense you have the email with the $50 super g.c that gives you proof it was your GC. They will track down the person that used the GC and they'll take action with them. They know the person that uses the codes on there site and has all the info on that person!
You should get you $50 GC back and the other person will get in trouble.

I guess if webshopper calls giftcertificates.com and tells them that the code was stolen they would try to get to the bottom of the matter to get it solved, but on the other hand, the person who used the code could forward them the email webshopper sent her with the code in it. That would prove that webshopper GAVE it to her. I don't think it would be solved that way, Maybe one of the mods should contact her and it may get solved that way. Dunno..
Sorry about your experience webshopper I hope you get your end of the bargain soon.

Yes and no,
Even if the person forwards a the email they still must freeze that order and do something. Webshopper, might not receive the $50 GC right away but giftcertificate.com will check on the GC code and the person who ordered used it. As long as Webshopper has the email from were ever she got the $50 GC from it is hers, and if she says someone else used it they will look in to it!. Also sense it was her GC then giftcertificate.com might revel to her who used her GC. I would say to call giftcertificate.com and see what they can and will do!
Far as the mods and poeple that run this site, there's nothing they can do except to try and contect theat person and remove there IP from there site so that person can be a member here. But sense i don't know how the person she traded with is, that person my not even be a member. If that the case then the Mods nor anyone can do anything about it, except for giftcertificate.com.

Well, I don't no what to say....but I just checked my all 4 emails which I sent to her are returned back as undelivered address.

The coupon have already been redeemed for 2 home depot g.c(s). I don't know if the story ends here, but I don't think I am interested in trying to do any other tradings here.

Thanks folks for timely advice. I just called the customer service and claimed that my g.c is stolen. Fortunately, this g.c was received by giving my personal info. and social security #, so nobody else can claim to own it. They told me the person (I was trying to make deal with)'s California's address. Plus she will be fully investigated.

I don't think she can proof by any means that I (sob)gave her the serial#. I don't use my this web address anywhere else, outside this board.

Opps, i guess you posted the last post the same time i did!

webshopper

You say that its "been redeemed for 2 home depot g.c(s)" So you must have called giftcertificate.com. What did they say??? Can they do anything for you? If you just talked to a CSR then try talking to the manager. Maybe they can be more helpfull. I'm very sorry to here what happen to you, but sometime we all learn a hard lesson.

I would be very interested in knowing who this person is as well. As a matter of fact, all ISP's are logged at Deal of Day and perhaps Mayor would be interested in this as well. That realllllly irritates me!

Sorry about your luck there!

Corky, I called CS saturday morning, just to check the status of my order. Didn't talk anything about who redeemed it. Anybody can check the status of her/his g.c. I thought it would be weird to claim that I am not that person. After looking at your post I finally decided that my cert. is already gone I can claim the theft.

By the way I gave the cert. on thursday and it was redeemed on friday. I think I should be receiving exchange before the redemption. But when on saturday I checked redemption without exchange (till sunday, today!), I felt the deal is fishy. Also yesterday, my friday's email to the other person returned. It has a warning to "not to resend" the message again. However, this one I sent using the "reply" button, so no typo. Howcome the my g.c. # carrying email, I generated exactly the same way....never returned.

I felt putting somebody's name on board for this reason is not nice....may be I should? atleast, somebody could be saved. I just checked that she earlier posted to another trader: can we make a deal through email.....(for same super g.c).
So please please be careful!

webshopper,

I'm not a mod here but i think there name should be posted here. The reason why is so others will know who this person is so they don't trade with that person. I would even post there IP# but i know that they can't do that.. At lease i don't thank they can.

That and just because i would love to know myself who this person is! By what your saying about her email address this isn't the first nor the last time that person is going to do this. There are poeple on the web that just goes around and steals from poeple. Its hard to believe but its true!

Webshopper, I am soooo sorry to hear that this happened to you. What I think you should do is start a new thread, title it "Attention xxxxxx please contact me regarding problem with trade" -- then they have the opportunity to reply to the thread and straighten it out if it was an error and not an intentional act of fraud. Plus, if they don't respond to the thread, then everyone else here will see it. This way you aren't really being nasty and accusing someone, but you are giving them the opportunity to make things right while giving everyone else a heads up.

Finally, I heard back from the other fellow. I don't know if it was due to the less frequent email checking or my this post or may be the fear of being investigated from giftcert.com., anyway I heard back today.

Once somebody looses your confidence, its very hard to make a deal with him/her. So, I just gave my mailing address to send those "home Depot" g.c's to me after having received. I really don't want those. I don't even know if that store is located near my place. But I know I really don't want an exchange any more. Now, I feel broken. I think if I actually get those g.c(s) I will be more interested in discovering a Home Depot near my home rather than making an other effort to exchange it.

I don't believe in "luck factor" but....sometimes it doesn't favor you. I just wish other traders Good Luck!
