Anyone ever heard of Shopper's Hotline?

The other day in the mail, there was this letter from IRI-Information Resources, Inc., saying "you have been chosen to become a member of an exclusive research panel called Shopper's Hotline."
The gist of the letter was that if I joined, I would be sent a scanner, and was to scan everything I buy (OK, I won't scan the CD of "William Shatner-the Transformed Man )and in exchange for the wealth of information I would provide on my shopping habits, I would be rewarded with what sounded like oodles and oodles of fantastic rewards.
Anyone?

Re: Anyone ever heard of Shopper's Hotline?

i did this for awhile. wasn't hard and the kids did like doing the scanning. i have to admit i wasn't great about scanning everything. if i remember correctly you got points for scanning each week and if you scanned for like 3 weeks in a row you got extra points. they would send questionairre occasionally and if you answered them, by scanning, you would get points and then the points could be turned in for gift cards to places. it was pretty easy and the only time it was a pain was when the battery was dying and the scanner would beep during the night, i kept it in the bedroom, and it drove my husband crazy. my dh hates when i do things like this because i am doing their job of finding out the products people buy. if you have the time and don't mind the little bit extra of scanning everything when you get home from shopping it is worth it.

Re: Anyone ever heard of Shopper's Hotline?

Thanks so much Rafala--- that was the answer I was hoping for. You never know, somethings sound so good and turn out to be not worth it, (like E-Rewards for me.) I think I will try the Shopper's Hotline after reading your response. What kind of gift cards did you receive, and how often? (If you are allowed to say?) With 4 1/2 year old triplets and a brain that is pretty much fried, I go to the grocery store about every other day, so I'm gonna be doing some serious scanning!

i don't really remember what i got for gift cards. i think home depot and target there were ones i liked and it was easy to make the points to get them as well. if it turns out to be a hassle you can always send it back. i did it for a few years then sent it back a couple years ago.

happy scanning

Just wanted to let people know that you spend you time scanning items, yet when you have a problem the customer service is very poor. I tried redeeming points and now am out both the money and the points and I get no satisfaction from customer service. BEWARE!
