canning

Someone in the Frugal forum asked about canning and I thought I would ask in this forum as well. My FIL and BIL both can hot peppers and the way they talk they dont use any special equipment, just a large pan for boiling. Anyone that cans have any easy, inexpensive ideas for us novices that really dont need another hobby
