Milkweed Pod Christmas Decorations

For those of you who know what a Milkweed plant is....
Let the pods mature and start opening on the plants. When they are gray, take them and split them in two. Take out the seeds and hairs and you are ready to decorate.
We usually painted or glittered the inside of each pod, then glued a little part of a cotton ball in the bottom to resemble snow. We purchased little figurines of deer, Santa, and the Baby Jesus and put in ours. Glue a silver or gold rope ribbon to the top and you have an ornament for your tree.

I wouldn't know where to find a milkweed plant around here, but that is a cute idea.
