Talking Photography Advice

I really love to take pictures, of people and mostly beautiful landscapes.
What resonably priced 35mm camera would someone recommend? I have a Olympus 70-120 zoom it works ok but I would like better quality pictures and alot more zoom.

Any suggestions?

Thank you and Happy Holidays

With the proliferation of digital cameras, you should be able to get great deals on film cameras. I assume your Olympus is a point-and-shoot. You'll always get better results with a SLR with interchangable lenses. You haven't indicated how much you want to spend.

There are a lot of good SLRs available. I like Nikon, but they're generally a tad more expensive than others. Olympus has had great optics with their Carl Zeiss lenses.

Digital camera prices are falling and with a good digital (over 3MP) you have a lot more flexibility - if you take a bad picture (and you will), you can just erase it. Much less expensive in the long run - no more film costs and processing costs. Of course, you may want to get photo editing software, more memory cards, a bigger hard drive, a CD writer and/or a photo printer because of it, so that could be expensive, too.

Most cheaper digital cameras (under $1500) are point-and-shoot, without interchangable lenses. I'd advise going digital rather than film. It can be a higher learning curve to get to where you're taking great pictures, but worth it.

If you want to take pictures worth blowing up to 8"x10" or more, think about going upwards of the 4MP mark.

Hope this helps.
