Hundreds of console games to play on your computer

I found a great way to play the older Super Nintendo, Genesis, and Atari games on your home computer. This is not for the faint of heart though...but if you are computer savvy you'll have access to all the older console games for free!

First you need the ingredients.

1) Emulator. A computer program that mimics the console you wish to play (Super Nintendo, Genesis, Atari 2600/5200, etc.)

2) Computer setup. You need a FAST PC, anything less than 500Mhz will be too slow. 128 Megabytes of RAM, fast video card (AGP video card of 8MB video RAM is more than enough). Hard drive space is a non-issue. A CD burner to save all your games is a good idea though.

3) Controller. A Gravis joypad or Microsoft sidewinder joypad is recommended. For maximum compatibility try to get a gameport joypad. If you can't find this older type of joypad, then buy any of the newer USB joypads.

4) Games. This is the tricky part. By law you cannot download a game unless you own it. There is a 24 hour time limit before you have to delete the game and buy it. However... you can search Google.com and using certain keywords you can find all 700+ Super Nintendo "roms" and 400-600 of the Genesis "roms".
The rom is the game that has been removed from a physical cartridge and put into a digital format. This is no different from ripping a file from CD and making an .mp3 out of it.

Now with all your ingredients we can make this work!

Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]
Download the version for Windows

Unzip the files and open the readme.txt or help file for a quick overview

The programs are so easy to use, if you have a game you can simply go to the File menu, then Load the game.

Buy a good joypad at computer geeks, j&r music, comp usa, or staples/officemax/office depot

To find actual games, go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] and
click on advanced search. Put in one of the following search parameters:

"super nes rom final fantasy" in first field, 100 results.
DO NOT put the above in quotes, remove quotes then in the field that says with atleast one of the words, put this in: "emulation"

OR for genesis games try this:

"sega genesis rom phantasy star" in first field, 100 results.
DO NOT put the above in quotes, remove quotes then in the field that says with atleast one of the words, put this in: "emulation"

scroll down the list, you will very likely find some legitimate sites to download the games from.

If in doubt, contact me through PM and I will walk you through the process. Your reward is having games that your kids can play for hours on end, games that are not so filled with violence like the games of today. Just make sure you pay Nintendo and Sega back for allowing emulation in the first place. It's legal and it's a great way to get back to having clean video games on your PC.

Cool Thank you!

I could kiss your ankles for this! We have several old systems and tons of games we still play. We are buying an HP 1.1 ghz(under $400 shipped) with cd burner system this week that will do the above excellently! After we download some games as per your instructions, I am going to sell our systems on fleabay. Now I can have everything burned to CDs instead of a bunch of systems and games taking up a lot of space! Woohoo!!

BTW, are you hardcore gamer from fatwallet?

Question fatwallet?

I have no idea what that animal is. Nice site... so they have other people posting about emulators? Enjoy the games.
