Hi Chipper 21:
There is a solution used by breeders, especially for dogs with long ear flaps. My basset hound has been infection-free when I use this solution:
16 oz. Isopropyl Alcohol
4 tablespoons Boric Acid Powder
16 drops Gentian Violet Solution 1%
Use a squeeze bottle, flood ears 2x, hold ear for a 60 second count. Use the solution daily for a week. The ears will be less inflamed immediately. (I had to run around the yard with some turkey meat to catch my 70 lb. basset hound the first time. Her cries stopped as soon as I used the BLUE FORMULA). This solution works on yeast and all other infections. I mixed up half the solution and had a lot left over. Use the solution in the yard as the gentian violet stains clothing and hands!
Let me know how this works out.
