Clinton Planted Question?

You have to tip your hat-this is textbook Bush/Clinton stuff.

Clinton had "no idea who she was calling on."

"The Clinton campaign's acknowledgment that it planted a question reinforces a widely held criticism of the senator -- that she is not entirely honest, said Bill Schneider, CNN's senior political analyst.

"It's the same criticism often made of her husband," Schneider said. "Most Americans never felt Bill Clinton was honest and trustworthy, even when he got elected in 1992 -- with only 43 percent of the vote. His critics called him 'Slick Willy.' ... Will her critics start referring to the New York senator as 'Slick Hillary?' "

"While she acknowledged "it's possible that all campaigns do these kind of tactics," she said that doesn't make it right"

According to Dan Schnur, however, such tactics are typical for campaigns -- and not just Clinton's. Schnur was John McCain's communications director in the 2000 campaign and now teaches at University of California, Berkeley and The University of Southern California.

"I don't think in either party I've ever seen a campaign that holds question and answer events that doesn't arrange for some questions," says Schnur. "That's not to say every question is prepared. That's not to say the candidate knows every question coming. But it's pretty standard practice."
-------------------------------------------------------
Mr. Bush and his staff have been criticized for pre-screening audience members in an effort to make sure questions come from supporters, particularly when he was traveling the country in support of his Social Security plan in 2005. On Saturday, Edwards compared Clinton's tactics to Bush's.

"That's what George does: George Bush goes to events that are staged, where people are screened," said Edwards, according to Politico. "That's not the way democracy works in Iowa."

Obama also weighed in, saying pre-screening questioners is "not a practice that we've ever engaged in and it's not a practice that we ever plan to engage in."

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney also said his campaign does not screen questions.

"Frankly, in a town hall setting like this, and every setting I'm in, we take all the questions, and we don't know who the questioners are," said Romney. "Sometimes there are planted questions that come from other campaigns or people that have a particular interest. But you know what? You take them all, and you respond honestly to the questions you get. That's part of the process."

Re: Clinton Planted Question?

The conservative media is outraged that a Hillary staffer asked a college student to ask Hillary a question on global warming? Where was the conservative media’s outrage when a gay Republican "escort" (male for male hooker) named James Guckert (aka, Jeff Gannon) was planted into the White House press core by a "not outed" now former White House senior staffer to ask politically loaded, misleading, and factually inaccurate questions to the President and the White House Press secretaries? Sean Hannity even called Guckert (or Gannon, or whatever name he was using at the time), a "terrific White House bureau chief" before it was revealed the questions and stated premises leading up to the questions Guckert was asking were laced with inaccuracies, or just plain softball. Guckert was finally removed by the White House press core itself, because he was not a "journalist" and his "news" website was pretty much a mirror of a RNC website. Did you know Sean Hannity has never mentioned why he removed Guckert (Gannon) from his radio show?

Unfortunately, the line between news and controlled public relations has been completely obliterated by this president, and perhaps, for others to get a message out after all the chicanery this President has done to mislead and misinform the public is very difficult.

From Jeff Gannon-fake White House bureau chief, "Talon News Service"- fake news organization, a fake FEMA press conference, soldiers in Iraq being scripted on what to say to the president during a live satellite link up, paying commentators for good reviews on White House policies, leaking partial reports to the New York Times and then quoting as if it were independently assessed information, paying Iraqi newspapers to run fake-feel good stories, and forcing midshipman and enlisted personnel to sit through Bush speeches and warning of attribution if they don't give the President a standing ovation, this current administration has gone out of its way to script appearances, and present closely knit, carefully worded lines and attribute those lines to other people.

And by the way, she was asked to ask a specific question; in no way was she an employee of the campaign, Hillary's Senate office, or the DNC. Let's up put things into perspective, people.

I think you have made some accurate comparisions, but I'm afraid that is what people have come to expect, and Clinton will continue the game. To be fair I believe people are going after Clinton since she leads according to most polls, but if you do questionable actions/standards you should, and will be called out. Hillary has said "that if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen"-so she has allowed folks to go after her, and she can't moan IMO.
