| Re: Do you consider yourself smarter/IQ then President Bush? Oh, come on! Is this a trick question? My dear old Irish setter is smarter than he is, and she's been dead for years! OK, OK, that's not very respectful, but the evidence is against Bush being particularly (or even slightly) intelligent. Aside from his incredible speech gaffes, he doesn't seem to be up on current events (didn't know who the Pakistani president was during his own first run for POTUS), doesn't seem to understand how things work ("More and more of our imports are coming from foreign countries." Eeek!), and seems to have no understanding of different belief systems, cultures, religions or viewpoints (or the ramifications of them when dealing on an international scale). He seems to have a peculiar lack of curiosity (says he only reads the headlines of newspapers). While Katrina was destroying New Orleans, he sat in his ranch house and was briefed via videophone by his staff on the pending tragedy. They explained how this was the "Big One" and that immediate action was required. When they were finished, he didn't have a single question, and made some inane comment, like, "Thank you and I'll take it under advisement." Then he ended the briefing and continued with his vacation. Of course, this is the man who froze when informed that our nation was under attack on 9/11. (And I don't want to hear how that can happen to anyone when something that momentous occurs. I, along with many Californians, are trained and ready to jump into immediate action in case of earthquake. Shouldn't the POTUS be at least as good as many responsible, upstanding citizens?) Even more distressing is his lack of sophistication. He doesn't seem to understand that it's a GOOD thing to change your mind when new evidence is presented, and that it is NOT a sign of a lack of integrity! I could go on and on, but I don't have 2 or 3 weeks to do so. But here's a fun link from youtube that you may enjoy.[Only registered and activated users can see links. I thought the arguement about him not being able to articulate his thoughts in a speech could be a good explanation, and I have read about President Bush having a undiagnosed language and hearing disability??[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] If anything <JMO> he doesn't seem well read across a broad spectrum of topics. I did enjoy the youtube discussion about how only past republican presidents have been thought to be idiots, but later people have reversed their opinions-(i.e. reagan)

| Re: Do you consider yourself smarter/IQ then President Bush? Can any english majors help out on this one?? ![]() [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] As a candidate, George W. Bush once asked, "Is our children learning?" Now he has an answer. "Childrens do learn," he said Wednesday. -------------------------------------------------------------- At Wednesday's event, Bush was pointing to the test results when he stumbled. "As yesterday's positive report card shows," he said, "childrens do learn when standards are high and results are measured." Bush pushed on without pausing to correct himself, but the official White House transcript released later cleaned up the sentence for him by making it "children." The gaffe came a day after a White House draft of his speech to the U.N. General Assembly was mistakenly posted on the U.N. Web site, complete with phonetic guides to the names of various foreign countries and leaders -- "KEYR-geez-stan" (Kyrgyzstan), "moor-EH-tain-ee-a" (Mauritania), "sar-KO-zee" (French President Nicolas Sarkozy). A White House spokeswoman said it was "offensive" to ask if that indicated Bush has problems pronouncing foreign names. Still, during his trip to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Australia last month, Bush did seem to have a bit of a pronunciation problem. "Thank you for being such a fine host for the OPEC summit," he told the prime minister of Australia, which like the United States is not actually a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. He also thanked the Australian leader for visiting "Austrian troops" in Iraq.

| Re: Do you consider yourself smarter/IQ then President Bush? OMG! I heard how "childrens do learn" the morning it happened. And I've read the book, "Is Our Children Learning?", which is simply mind-boggling! But calling Australian troops "Austrian troops"?! I don't think that was just a slip of the tongue; I think he really doesn't know the difference! It sounds as if he didn't pay much attention right through middle school, and then just zoned out altogether. I'd like to see him write a speech or article, and then have it analyzed. I've read that psychologists or neurologists can tell who is going to have Alzheimer's, years in advance, by analyzing their ability to write complex, yet clear sentences. He is one of the few, or maybe the only, POTUS who has not published a book or important paper during the last century. God, the whole world is laughing (or crying)!
