| Re: Employers Sticking Nose in Personal Lives Quote:
To dictate a living arrangements when one half of the couple is not an employee is mind bogling - but hey those whacky (insert religion here). I am a skeptic, so let me ask: She was a Top 10 employee, they say. How many full time employees does a skating rink have? Oh well. While I respect almost all religious beliefs (even those whacky, living together before marriage pagans), I do not have to subsidize them. So, why not everyone who has ever lived with someone outside the sanctity of marriage, or the children of said persons, or someone who thinks they might (remember, better than 50% of marriages do not work) just not go to that skating rink? Heck, I am already boycotting it. I am sure these very sinfull people can find another place to hang out. Even most, if not all ,the Presbytarian and Lutheran churchess would welcome without judgement these terrible people living out of wedlock. Heck, I do my best not to stay at a certain hotel chain because I do not want 10% of my bar bill going to a certain church. The point is do not go skating at that rink untill these guys become more tolerant. Not everyone has a mom and dad and a family with 2.3 children and a stay at home mom who bakes cookies and a dad who is a successfull surgeon. And all of this may be moot if the real motive is not to "save" her with church, but is the fact she is cute and the owners of the rink wanted to "date" her themselves.

| Re: Employers Sticking Nose in Personal Lives Ummmmm, Ver? I fired Mark. That's where we met! And I was his boss..... Freedom Lover - you probably figured this out, but just in case, Mark was the man I was dating who is now my husband, but I was his boss. It didn't affect our work relationship, as we never let it, but my immediate Supervisor knew about it and told me to "do" something, meaning either stop dating him, ask him to quit or fire him - he really did quit, but to this day, he'll (jokingly) tell people that I fired him. OK, which hotel chain is this? I can think of two. And you're right, in a skating rink, IF there are ten employees, it's a huge rink! I'll boycott it with you, though I don't skate, but how do they know? LOL Kat

| Re: Employers Sticking Nose in Personal Lives Just found this site & kinda' skimmed & LOL at alot of it! My small Co. DID do drug testing, but if you failed they kinda' "told you the waiting period for retake & how to pass it if they wanted to employ you". Which was totally riduculous given the fact the Co. president loved "MaryJane" & "saw her" in employee's company, if ya' get my drift! I was an office employee hired thru' temp agency & exempt from Company retesting since it was already done thru' agency, but don't you think the people working with heavy machinery & forklifts should not have been given a second chance if they failed drug test "due to safety reasons" - which drive workmans comp & health insurance issues up thru' "thier fault", unlike a person who is genetically overweight maybe not being hired 'cuz a Co. thinks it'll spend too much money on health insurance for that person??? If Companies can tell people not to smoke butts on thier own time, what next ....fire someone on thier own time that they have proof ordered fast food. What if it's a woman working for company making Pampers & buys Huggies or store brand to save money - can she be fired as well? Do you really think all the girls that work at Victoria Secrets buy ONLY thier bra's & panties, betcha not with what they make & there discount's not "that good" - LOL! Working for Bud plant - fired for drinking coors - give me a break (it's his OWN TIME)! What if you worked for Nike & your kids only would wear Reebock. Or if you sold Mercedes but only could afford to drive a Hydia Electra (or whatever). When filling out applications at Burger joints, is there a question that asks if you're a "Vegetarian, or Vegan" that would discriminate you from employment? Some jobs, like accounting & people in sales or working cash registers or wire transfers - I do believe the Companies have the right to do Credit Check. But desk jobs - why do they need to do Driver background check? NOT TO MENTION - PEOPLE WHO DRIVE SCHOOL BUSES & END UP HAVING BAD DRIVERS RECORDS. PLUS - PEOPLE HIRED AS TEACHERS, COACHES ETC....WHO HAVE CRIMINAL CHARGES INVOLVING KIDS! Guess where ever you work or try to........you're at the mercy of the "almighty employer" & THEY KNOW IT!! |
