Conservative Bias in Military Broadcasts

Why does the American Forces Network not air commentators on the left to balance its lineup of conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh and James Dobson?
Also a amendment to require a balance was voted down. 44-54.....I guess just another example of the conservative media bias

"ARMED FORCES BROADCASTS (S 1042): Voting 44-54, senators defeated a measure requiring the American Forces Network, which broadcasts to service personnel and dependents worldwide, to be balanced in its political commentary. The amendment addressed the fact that the network airs no commentators on the left to balance its lineup of conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh and James Dobson. The amendment also sought to establish an ombudsman to monitor the fairness of programming."

Chris Core, a radio talker in Washington, DC, said Liberal talkers on the Armed Forces Radio Network will demoralize the troops, while conservative talkers help the cause. I guess this is the same reason Rush Limbaugh is asking the public to buy subscriptions to his newsletter for members of the armed services at a 15% discount. Think about it, one soldier in Iraq gets cookies from a hometown church, and his buddy gets a Rush Limbaugh newsletter. Sounds fair, right?

I believe the soldiers are in some ways fighting for Freedom, and that includes freedom of speech-whether that is good or bad...let each decide for themselves. You either let all speak or none...

Saw this in a article I posted, and I think it sums it up pretty well in regards to the military paying iraqi reporters.

"What we need are Iraqis who really believe what they're saying and say it for themselves"
