It appears after watching the program, however, Mehlman was prepared to not answer direct questions, hoping instead to attack Democrats for “sending the wrong message to our troops.”

It was a well calculated move for Dean not to appear on the same stage at the same time. Watching Mehlman alone on the hot seat, squirming, and equivocating, was amusing, telling, and questioning.
