Joint Resolution said what?

From the President’s partisan Veterans’ Day speech yesterday;

"It is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how that war began,"
"When I made the decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power, Congress approved it with strong bipartisan support."

As we all know from the second statement, the President was referring to the October 2002 joint resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq. However, the joint resolution did not directly mention the removal of Hussein from power.

The resolution voiced support for diplomatic efforts to enforce "all relevant Security Council resolutions," and for using the armed forces to enforce the resolutions and defend "against the continuing threat posed by Iraq."

Is the President attempting to rewrite history, or was he just being disingenuous?

And to continue. from his speech;

” Some Democrats and anti-war critics are now claiming we manipulated the intelligence and misled the American people about why we went to war. These critics are fully aware that a bipartisan Senate investigation found no evidence of political pressure to change the intelligence community's judgments related to Iraq's weapons programs.”
President Bush, November 11, 2005. For the record

We should all note, here, that the Senate Intelligence Committee has not yet released "phase two" of its report, which will address allegations that administration officials misused intelligence. On November 1, 2005, Senate Democrats called for a closed-door session in order to demand that the Intelligence Committee follow through on "phase two" of its investigation.

And contrary to the President's claim, according to Richard Kerr, a onetime acting CIA director who "led an internal investigation of the agency's failure to correctly analyze Iraqi weapons-of-mass-destruction capabilities," intelligence analysts "were pressured, and heavily so."
