I think they should be allowed to marry as well. Actually, our one Catholic church here in town has a married priest with children. I don't remember which faith he came from, but apparently there is one that the Catholic church now permits them to come over and remain married (and have children). This new priest (new to our church) has caused quite a bit of controversy.. not because of him being married.. but because of other things.

I forgot to add.. if it's ok for him to now be a Catholic priest and be married, then isn't it unfair that his brothers in the church can't do the same?

How about a pope that allows birth control?! And with the growth of Catholicism in Africa, I would hope the new pope would allow the use of condoms to stop the spread of AIDS!

A priest isn't suppose to do marriage counseling. Priests do spiritual counseling so if a couple needs marriage counseling the priest will tell the couple they need a marriage counselor. Married men can be pedophiles so being married does not make one free of that mental illness. More young people agree with the pope's teaching on issues than the older generation so they may be very satisfied on keeping things as they are. |

I'd hate to be married to a priest. First of all they take a vow of poverty. Even the pope died owning nothing. Second they are married to the church with their time schedule. They are gone all the time working for the people of the parish. And then of course there is the confessional. You know as a wife I have to know everything my hubby talks about. I would expect him to tell me what he heard in the confessional. Oh he would say he couldn't under fear of going to **** if he reavealed anything he heard but I would try to get it out of him even if it was in his sleep. LOL |
