Border Action Not Enough

What are citizens living on the border suppose to do if they can't get adequate protection/enforcement? The lack of enforcement has lead to trespassing on private property, and numerous other problems. IMO-we need to decide whether all these problems are worth it or not just so that we can allow illegal aliens the opportunity to work for businesses that depend on cheap labor.

I can tell you first hand the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) doesn't have the resources to handle the problem.

My barracks is in Pennsylvania.. nowhere near the border.. and we get illegal immigrants nearly every day (do a google search, lol) and they are released from custody damn near every time at the request of ICE.

Our new threat to homeland security is going to be due to a lax border and lack of action on the part of ICE to take these subjects into custody and remove them from our country (even though they will keep coming back).. we are sending a message to the illegals that they can come and go as they please because we won't do anything but detain them for a short period of time, give them a piece of paper with a hearing date to appeal and cut them loose... and they never show up for the hearing. Welcome to America.

I agree something has to be done about the chaos with the border, but there has to be be some kind of guest worker program or something for the ones who want to come her to work and do the dirty jobs that no one wants to do here. The bad guys have to be weeded out, but a lot of the outrage about the border and immigration is hypocrisy. Wasn't Bush going to do some kind of guest worker program for the non-terrorist legit workers? then he backed down?
Of course, any discussion on cable news presents 2 extremes. You're either a brainless liberal who agrees with wide open anarchy at the border, or a racist conservative who hates all immigrants.
Some politician has to step up in an intelligent manner and address the legitimate concerns about the border, while at the the same time not demonizing every immigrant with a broad brush. This country benefits from immigration too.

A lot of this non-enforcement is PURPOSELY done. But the second ANYONE of the left or right suggests a rational guest worker program, that is called "rewarding illegal behavior"

I have some problems with having a "guest worker program". Seems that this provides a exclusion for a select group of business...isn't this a form of protectionism that Free Traders despise? You are correct IMO that non-enforcement is encouraged to a certain degree in order for business to have cheap labor. It seems the policy is that we want free trade until a point is reached in which we would have to pay to high a cost for labor in order to produce or provide a service in which the bottom line is affected.
