Re: social security???????

Social Security when it was first started, was a great program. Unfortunantely things have changed and it is a much different program. Any program that uses up nearly 1/5 the budget and currently benefits about 1/5 the country is considerable and SHOULD be focused on! I find it sad how much we spend on this one program as opposed to education.

That being said I think Social Security does need to be saved but changes need to be made. I think private an interesting idea, but more of the details need to be made known. For example, I want to know if I choose to have a private account, how much will my guarateed benefits decline? I like the idea of ownership, but I don't like the idea of having them just so "people can get more." Social Security isn't here for us to "get more," it's to be SECURITY. When you start letting people risk it, well it takes away the security part.

We also need to start focusing on Medicare.

Looks like the elderly in this country are going to start costing us -- guess old age comes at quite a price! And they say having children is expensive...HAVING GRANDPARENTS is expensive! LOL!

Re: social security???????

I didn't vote because I wasn't sure either....I assume stay altogether, but I didn't know that some people were calling for it to end.
