Angry Our Goverments retirement plan Verse Our Social Security

I want to know why the goverment thinks its fair for them to have a retirement plan thats paid for by the taxes we pay... Yet our Social Security will no longer exist in the next few years. Maybe we should try this as a solution to the Social security problem.
GET A Law TO PLACE ALL POLITICIANS ON SOC. SEC.

----------------------------------
SOCIAL SECURITY:

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years.

all Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it.
The goverment felt that Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society, And they should have a special plan for themselves. So, many years ago it was voted in by you the goverment, to have your own benefit plan .

In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan.

For all practical purposes the plan works like this:
When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die.

Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments..

This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two Dignitaries. For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275,000.00 during the last years of their lives.

Younger Dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives.

Their cost for this excellent plan is $0.00. NADA....ZILCH....

WHY?????? They Should have to either get another job or be set up to draw social security like everone else. A lot of us feel the same way about the president as well. Once their job is done. Then its done. No one should get a free ride for life...I don't care who you are. They were all paid to do the jobs. So there for should have to get work somewhere else one the job is done.

This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. We the american people who work for a living. Are picking up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds;

"OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK"!

>From our own Social Security Plan, which I and millions more have paid into,-every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer)-we can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month after retirement.

Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator! Bill Bradley's benefits! (WHAT WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE)

Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made.

That change would be to:
Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us
then sit back.....
and watch how fast they would fix it.

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve.

How many people can YOU send this to? Better yet.....
How many people WILL you send this to??

Not sure if this is true because it reeks of a Snopes e-mail joke, but if it's true then I DON'T like it.

It is true, it stinks to high heaven, and there isn't a damned thing we can do about it. Remember also, to add insult to injury, these bastards get their freebie health care until it's time to push up daisies, all of course, at taxpayer expense.

Thanks for those links, CT and MrB. Still though, gov't officials still get a better deal than most any one else, at taxpayer expense.

Re: Our Goverments retirement plan Verse Our Social Security

Most people have no real clue as to the real shape of Social Security. The government, both political parties, has spent every single dime of it since its second year of existence. They issue IOU's in the form of Treasury Certificates. By December 11, 1998, Social Security contained 734 Billion dollars in IOU's. Last year the government paid out more in benefits than it received in payments. The press released it and the government moved quickly to cover it up.
The rapid trading in the stock market in the 1990s generated enough capital gains tax revenue to permanently shore it up. It was spent elsewhere. It's time people start demanding the congress fix it or vote them out of political office. The defeat of Senator Daschle proves it can be done.
Personally, I am more concerned that the national debt is much greater than most people know. Social Security, civil service pension fund, and the railroad trust, are all IOU's. The government counts them as assets not debt.
Let's all start writing them, get others to write them, and put them out of office if they don't stop spending money they don't have.
