Why do people have to label cartoon characters gay or straight? Does it matter to the kids who watch? Its kinda like Bert and Ernie on Sesame street. I watched them and nothing was ever said. I also watched Mr. Rogers, but was told he was gay. Mr. Rogers is real, Spongebob is not. Not watching Mr. Rogers, while crazy, would make "some" sense. But....not watching a cartoon is rediculous. A cartoon is fake!
I don't think it matters if its from a religion or personal opinion. It's a cartoon, its not real! Grrrrrrrr! Some people are so rediculous!

And why do people have to use labels such as religious right? I am by all means right(conservative)..but am not religious, nor am I anti-gay. Speaking of fear..while I'm not religous, I don't understand all the fear of those who are????

COME ON! There's nothing sexual about these cartoon characters. Why do they have to make something wholesome into something dirty? (Like Bert and Ernie). Perverts is what they are. They spend their whole lives looking for something perverted in something that is not. It makes me ill. THEY are the one's with the problem.

That's Sandy Cheeks. And she's just Spongebob and Patrick's friend. They're all friends, there is nothing sexual about the cartoon whatsoever.

There's an episode where Spongebob and Patrick decide to parent a baby clam. Spongebob is doing all the housework and baby care while Patrick goes to work late every night.

What little kid would think that has to do with homosexuality? Kid's don't have the perverted mind that these nuts do. I don't even like to call them religious, because the things they come up with have nothing to do with Christianity. It's just plain sick and twisted.

I didn't think having a boyfriend or girlfriend was really sexual. My five year old granddaughter says she has a boyfriend.

Interesting read. While I don't always agree with Focus on the Family, I like the fact that Dr. Dobson always documents his writings with footnotes because I think it gives him a lot of credibility.

Do I think homosexuality is right? No. Do I want schools to promote Gay Pride week? No. Do I want my children to respect a homosexual person as much as a straight person? Yes. Would this world be a better place if people just minded their business? Yes.

So if he doesn't support tolerance of homosexuality, what does he think children should do? If they find out someone is gay, should they kill them on the spot? Beat the gayness out of them? Should teachers make the kid sit in the corner alone? Should spongebob appear in a video supporting intolerance and segregation?

In the end, it's not for us to judge.

Yeah..I can relate to that, the extremist on the other end scare me too..ie, peta, moveon.org, etc. Unfortunately they are assumed to speak for the majority, when in reality they usually don't.

Oh, I agree. I was just saying how the creator said that Spongebob is asexual - in the cartoon he doesn't show any "special feeling" toward either male or female.

And my 5 year old says he has at least 3 girlfriends in preschool. lol He's been talking about having girlfriends since he was 3! What have I gotten myself into? hehe (One day I showed up during class to bring something, and while all the boys were crashing trucks and cars, my boy was sitting at the little table having pretend dinner with the girls. lol)
