This is the type of feedback some in the black community will benefit from. | Great article... I especially liked: Quote: |
But Cosby has no plans to shut up. "This is about little children and people not giving them better choices," ... "How long you gonna whisper about a smallpox epidemic in your apartment building when bodies are coming out under the sheets?"
| Gosh this is so true and could be applied to so much of the 'silence' garbage that goes on in the U.S. due to political correctness, for SEVERAL issues. Quote: |
We blacks tend to point the finger first and engage in self-examination later. In discussing our problems, white racism is often our default position, even though the real issue for many of us these days isn't lack of opportunity, but the failure to take advantage of the opportunities available.
| What a brave statement for her to make! Quote: |
It's appropriate that the man who in many ways has become a father figure to both black and white Americans is now speaking to his immediate "family" in the way a tough, but loving father does. Which is to say, "Shape up and get yourselves together, or else stop complaining." I, for one, appreciate his counsel. And a father who tells his family the truth shouldn't worry about whether the neighbors like it or not.
| Very powerful words. Unfortunately, Al and his cronies won't pay her and other reasonable voices any heed- they have built their empired by playing on the fears and insecurities of the black community; they won't let it go because of a few words by Cosby and others.
