Post A Christmas question.

Everyone I know celebrates Christmas some of them say they are atheists and some say they are not atheists but do not believe in God. Christmas is a totally Christan holiday. There is no way that I can see that any one can say it is not. For those of you who are non believers what are you celebrating? I am not being sarcastic or any thing I am truly wondering.

Re: A Christmas question.

Although Christmas was chosen to replace an ancient celebration, what you say is true Debbie. Christmas has been celebrated as Christs birthday ever since. I have wondered the same thing.

Re: A Christmas question.

Many people use Christmas as a time to get together with family and friends and give and receive gifts. Nothing more. They are not celebrating anything. Just enjoying the decorations and gifts.

Ok that is something I can understand in a way you are celebrating something you are celebrating family and friends. Like I said I was truly wondering. I get so caught up in the giving and getting myself that sometimes I feel like I am not celebrating my Savior's birth. I have to stop and remind myself that for me and my family Jesus is the reason for the season. Thanks for answering Chippers.

Re: A Christmas question.

Christmas for our family is about giving presents, celebrating our family and friends, and tradition. Things like leaving out the cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer - at least one of my kids still believed in Santa until just 2 years ago (at age 11). We also make a big deal of cutting down a tree and decorating it together as a family. Christmas is a huge deal at our house.
