4 More Years

Good morning all.

I have a political hangover I think. I finally went to bed about 4 a.m. Although I did keep falling asleep on the couch while trying to watch updates.

I know . . . it's not official. But the numbers keep getting better for Bush this morning.

I thought I heard something that Bush has more individual votes than any other president in history.

So when he finally gets those final Electoral votes, he'll have those AND the popularity vote. First time in 14 years I believe they said. (Does that mean Clinton didn't win the popularity vote?)

I'm just glad I don't have to watch any more political ads for 4 more years.

I was disappointed when they were interviewing some Democrats who admitted they're not going to try to come together for peace in our divided Nation. (Although they said they can't speak for everyone).

I know if Kerry won, I wouldn't have been "divided". But that's just me I guess. I'm all for unity. Even when "my guy" doesn't win. Because it's America that matters - not whose running it.

Re: 4 More Years

I absolutely agree that Bush will have 4 more years; I wish the Kerry camp would just accept this graciously and move on.

I wish I could say I'm glad it's over... unfortunately, it ISN'T over because of all the garbage Kerry is starting in OH.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just childish? I mean in 2000 you could see them wanting a recount (heck, there were only like 500 votes separating them). With the popular vote going to Gore, it made sense to double-check such a close race. Of course, I do think they went overboard with the never-ending lawsuits.

The fact is, after all the INDEPENDENT and DEMOCRATIC-funded recounts (after the 'official' concession) were done... nothing changed. Bush still won! So the folks still accusing him of stealing that election are sorely undereducated.

At any rate, in THIS case- we are talking about an insurmountable margin in Ohio. Additionally, Bush has a popular vote lead of like 3.5 million. The dems need to let it go.
Why is this so difficult?

Re: 4 More Years

Kerry is counting on those provisional ballots in Ohio to be counted. He figures that there is a victory lurking in those ballots. Never mind that it is beyond the normal boundaries of statistics that he could emerge as victorious.

I think he was so confident that he was going to win that the man is actually having serious trouble believing that he has lost.

Right. Clinton never broke 50%. In fact, a Democrat has not won the clear popular majority since Jimmy Carter in 1976. That's 28 years.

Re: 4 More Years

Questions:

How many votes did each candidate get in Ohio? How many provisional votes/absentee votes were cast? If EVERY SINGLE provisional and absentee ballot went to John Kerry...would he win Ohio?

I've been looking for the numbers and can't find them!

Answered my own question! No way Kerry could win. Why haven't they award Iowa, Wisconsin, or Nevada to anyone yet?

I feel kind of bad for Kerry and his family, but I'm glad Bush won!

Nevada is actually showing red on some of the networks now.

I sincerely hope he now acts like OUR President- the American people's President that is, whether we voted for him or not.

It is funny. A person's reaction to a President depends so much on the person's viewpoint. I always found Clinton very irritating despite his way with words. I know many of you who have fundamental belief differences that color your reaction to Bush. You react to a Bush speech the same way I reacted to a Clinton speech: either yelling back at the tv or turning it off alltogether. A co-worker told me today that they dislike Bush because he is so arrogant. I have never felt he was arrogant. But I view Kerry that way. And Clinton too, to some extent. I wonder if any of them are really the way we decide they are, based on our agreement or disagreement with them. Just wondering....

Very good point; and the ONLY explanation for how two people can look at the same guy and come up with such diverging opinions
