Question Why do some states require party affiliation when registering voters?

First off-both sides are guilty of doing this stuff IMO

I think that is pretty slimy.

I personally think that whenever anyone gets their drivers license or state ID they should just automatically be registered to vote.

That way you would aleviate most of these types of schemes, but at the same time you're not forcing anyone to vote; the decision would still be theirs.

I guess some folks don't want to register for various reasons. People have the choice

Re: Why do some states require party affiliation when registering voters?

Reminds me of the phone poll I participated in a couple weeks ago. It was supposed to be a poll to get my ideas on the candidates. After a few questions about who I would be voting for, I was exposed to a bunch of Democratic negative propaganda about the Republican candidates and then asked again who I would vote for. Some poll....that is why I do not believe in polls.
As for this slime....I view it as just another example of how the Dems are already making excuses in case they lose.
This election will have one of two results:
Kerry wins. OR
Bush wins but the Dems say it was not an honestly run election, and they gripe for another 4 years. Just like the last 4.
Sickening.

Yep...Did you ask them what organization they were conducting the poll for?

Whoever wins the election will declare it a fair/honest election. The loser will claim all the examples of corruption blah blah blah from either party-not just the democrats. The sad thing is that to a certain degree you are always going to have corruption-maybe I'm just skeptical, but if a state is really close I can see how the side that cheats the best will win
