Anyone think this is not a good plan?

Call me skeptical, but maybe the insurgents have enough of the particular weapons that they are turning over, and wish to use the money for other items.

I'm sure I'll get spanked for this, but in my opinion, they shouldn't be paying these killers, they should be blowing them up. Not very PC, I know.

Not very PC is right but I do have to say that if they get the terrorists in their sights why would they let them walk away. Put them in prison.Or blow them up. I mean we are supposed to be "defeating" them aren't we. Give them money, my God how dumb!!

It would appear that the effort is underway to marginalize the insurgents by allowing Sadr to become a political player. This may make sense if what the deal is here is to bring the Sunnis and the Shias together. Otherwise the likelihood of a cival war would be pretty high. Time of course will tell if this strategy works in the long run.

IMHO, the jury is out on this one, and we should offer a little patience here, watch, wait, and see how things unfold. I think a benefit of the doubt is in order.
