| These national polls aren't the most important..it really comes down to the state polls in battleground states. Plus if either side has some dirt that they have been holding back on Reuters Poll: Bush, Kerry Tied in White House Race [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] The latest three-day tracking poll showed Kerry and Bush deadlocked at 45 percent apiece barely two weeks before the Nov. 2 election. The president had a 46-44 percent lead over the Massachusetts senator the previous day, and a four-point lead the day before that.

| Re: Kerry Regaining Momentum-Poll Some interesting stuff...On one hand the job approval number is very low-below the 50 percent number in which many folks gauge, but the real question is how these break towards the challenger which is usually the case-so usually the Incumbent needs to be up 3% on the final day. But the state breakdown shows Bush has the advantage-more opportunities, less downside risk. Just some more updates: Reuters Poll: Bush, Kerry in White House Dead Heat: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] Poll Shows Tie; Concerns Cited on Both Rivals: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] "Mr. Bush's job approval rating is at 44 percent, a dangerously low number for an incumbent president, and one of the lowest of his tenure. A majority of voters said that they disapproved of the way Mr. Bush had managed the economy and the war in Iraq, and - echoing a refrain of Mr. Kerry's - that his tax cuts had favored the wealthy. Voters said that Mr. Kerry would do a better job of preserving Social Security, creating jobs and ending the war in Iraq." "But a majority of Americans continue to see Mr. Kerry as an untrustworthy politician who will say what he thinks people want to hear. More than half of respondents said they considered him liberal, reflecting a dominant line of attack by Mr. Bush this fall." Race for White House Comes Down to Few Key States: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] "This year, Bush begins the 2004 race with an electoral head start. Because of population shifts recorded in the last census, the 30 states Bush won in 2000 are now worth seven more electoral votes, giving him a base of 278. The states won by Democrat Al Gore are now worth 260 electoral votes." Bush could lose either Ohio or Florida and still win the election by picking up states he narrowly lost last time -- like Wisconsin, where polls show the race is a dead heat, and Minnesota, where polls show Kerry with a slight lead. They have a combined 20 electoral votes, same as Ohio. "For Bush, a win in Florida probably puts him over the top," Bennett said. "But there are a lot of other ways he can get there -- he has more options than Kerry."

| Re: Kerry Regaining Momentum-Poll Had read that Bush was pulling 18% compared to 9% among black voters-so a higher turnout is needed in order to make up for difference in percentages. Either login above or Register Now] "Should more than 20 million young voters turn out, and turn out in key states, their weight will be felt. There are about 40 million young voters registered nationwide. In the key battleground states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida, the youngest voters make up a fifth of the electorate."
