From today's entry at The Mayor's Blog [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] Ok, so Michael Moore has had his day in the sun. Fahrenheit 911 infiltrated movie houses across America and succeeded in persuading a segment of the population with incredible distortions and outright lies. Now, the Kerry campaign and Democrats have forgotten that the First Amendment means free speech for EVERYONE. This would include Sinclair Broadcasting and their plans to air a documentary exposing John Kerry for who he really is. The documentary is called Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Heal. Sinclair Broadcasting owns 62 stations nationwide and will be airing this program in prime time October 21-24, 2004. "Stolen Honor" investigates how John Kerry's actions during the Vietnam era impacted the treatment of American soldiers and POWs. Using John Kerry's own words, the documentary juxtaposes John Kerry's actions with the words of veterans who were still in Vietnam when John Kerry was leading the anti-war movement. This documentary is going to attempt to set the record straight on John Kerry's record so that America knows the truth about a person that is running for the highest elected office in the land. Democrats and the Kerry campaign have tried to silence Sinclair Broadcasting by initimidation and screaming "foul". Of course, they were just fine with Fahrenheit 911 being shown at the national conference of the Teacher's Union, among other places. What goes around comes around. John Kerry can try to hide from his past, but it is coming back to haunt him. ![]() According to USA Today, these are the cities that will be able to view Stolen Honor. ![]() Alabama: Birmingham, two WB stations; Tuscaloosa, UPN. Sorry to see it won't air in my area. I'd really like to see it. They should consider putting it on CD for those who are outside their market space. (Fortunately though, GA is firmly in Bush's hands; Kerry doesn't have a prayer of taking this state).

Campbell supposedly appears in the film during a segment in which the narrator, Carlton Sherwood, states that the many of the men participating in Vietnam Veterans Against the War were "discovered as frauds" and had "never set foot on the battlefield, or left the comfort of the States, or even served in uniform except in mock contempt of the military." During the segment in which Campbell states that a photo of him was used, several historical photos were shown that featured war protestors and men in uniform. The film which has been criticized as "propaganda" to benefit the mission of the anti-Kerry group, Swift Vets and POWs for Truth, is to be broadcast in several swing states by the Sinclair Broadcast Group. Sinclair is considered a family operated business whose executives are large supporters of the Bush/Cheney reelection campaign and the Republican Party. According to the Associated Press, Campbell has also threatened legal action against the Sinclair Broadcast Group. |

I'm not saying he is or he isn't, but I certainly would never put stock in one individual, especially when so many others disagree. I plan on watching the documentary with an open mind. I am far more concerned with viewing the actual footage of Kerry than I am with the commentary. Mayor

Fair & Balanced McCain hammers TV station for not running 'Nightline': [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] "Baltimore-based Sinclair Broadcasting Group has decided not to air the ABC news program because tonight's edition will feature host Ted Koppel reading off the names of the more than 500 troops killed in action in Iraq." The senior senator said in the letter he found Sinclair's decision "deeply offensive." "I supported the President's decision to go to war in Iraq, and remain a strong supporter of that decision," said McCain in his letter to Smith. "But every American has a responsibility to understand fully the terrible costs of war and the extraordinary sacrifices it requires of those brave men and women who volunteer to defend the rest of us; lest we ever forget or grow insensitive to how grave a decision it is for our government to order Americans into combat" McCain's comments have some sway in media circles, because the Republican chairs the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. That panel has oversight over the Federal Communications Commission, media ownership and decency regulations.

Not everyone sues when they don't like something said or done. They speak the truth and get on with their lives. You can't measure the validity of a statement by how many people sue. You measure it by whether or not it withstands critical reasoning.

As for the McCain involvement, while I appreciate McCain's service, he is little more than a pandering tv interview hound. If anyone should be standing up and calling for an apology from John Kerry, it should be John McCain. Where I come from, we call that "NOT having a pair of cajones". ;-) Mayor
