Angry $40,000 in student fees spent on booking MICHAEL MOORE!

Yep, the student government or whatever is voting tonight. They are considering spending $40,000 of OUR STUDENT FEES to bring Michael Moore to campus! FORTY THOUSAND!

If they vote to bring him, the College Republicans are planning a big protest.

In our school newspaper today (U of NE Lincoln) they had an article about this. There was a big controversy in the 70's when they brought Jane Fonda to campus and there were even lawsuits!

Suffice it to say I am NOT happy they are even considering spending that amount of money to bring this joker here.

Spending that much to bring a musician or band or something would be cool, but I don't think it would be fair to spend that much to bring such a political, partisan person to campus!

Re: $40,000 in student fees spent on booking MICHAEL MOORE!

Update, it may actually cost more to rent the facility and pay for his travel and housing expenses!

Also, this violates a Board of Regents policy that requires the university to provide a variety of viewpoints. As of yet there are NO plans to bring a high-profile conservative.

The student programming council might not even have enough money to bring someone, so outside fund raising might have to be done now!

Ridiculous!

I am neither, but I agree more with Republican views than Democrat. I just hate Michael Moore.

This (spending such an inordinate amount of money to bring that stupid fat man to your campus) is just an illustration of the strong grip liberals have on college and university campuses across the country.

Crazytimes just made a NEUTRAL point of saying that the University guidelines prohibit one-sided views...

Update: HE'S NOT COMING!

They had a meeting last night and turns out Moore is going to another school on that date, so there were scheduling conflicts.

Plus since there was no written contract, the actaul costs weren't known! It could have cost more than $40K!

Yes. It just seemed like you were asking in order to see how much stake you'd put in what the person had to say. For instance if they are a Republican, then you would be more willing to dismiss what they said.

I apologize if I was reading too much into it, it just struck me as an odd question.
