Re: Speak Out & Get Fired

remember everyone (and let's all repeat it, so we won't forget it, okay?)

It's freedom of speech, not freedom to say anything you want and then not suffer consequences of it...as so many like to say, you can yell fire in a movie theatre, but you're gonna be arrested for it.

He can heckle all he wants, but he needs to realize that if he ticks off the wrong person, bad things can happen to him.

It didn't say in the article exactly what statements were made just:

"shouting comments about the Iraq war and the failure to find weapons of mass destruction there"

So it doesn't sound like he said anything like yelling fire in a movie theater. I can understand the possibility of having trespass charges if the event was a Private Event because it did say something about tickets. From the above information you still need to separate the difference of the employer-employee relationship. If this person was not on company time then his actions should not be held against him. It would be like you going to a baseball game, and saying or doing something that someone perceives to be not appropriate(client etc), and then getting fired.

Expressing political dissent is now called "heckling?"

Re: Speak Out & Get Fired

ha ha - you two are so funny. I think maybe you should take another class in english - maybe an analytical one this time...

if the write doesn't print what words are used, and calls what the man did heckling, OBVIOUSLY the man heckled Pres. Bush.

So, bowler, you can be sure that the writer used the word heckling BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE DID!

Re: Speak Out & Get Fired

Yes-It all depends on how you interpret the meaning.

Heckle-To badger or annoy, as with questions, comments or gibes.

So if the other individual(s) perceive it to be badger/annoy then heckle would fit the bill.
