Angry Driving and Cell Phones

Get off your cell phones, people! What is so important?

This morning I'm driving to work and this car is coming up the MIDDLE of the road... I had to STOP or get hit! Yep, she was yapping on her cellphone.

This just burns me up.

I wish cell phones had never been invented. Why do we need to talk to people while we DRIVE???

Re: Driving and Cell Phones

They REALLY need to pass some laws on this...some people talking on the phone are just as dangerous as drunk drivers!

I'm pretty sure the only states that ban them are NY and NJ. Every civilized country in the world (except Sweden and the US) has outlawed them while driving.

Re: Driving and Cell Phones

I totally agree. The other day I was sitting at a red light. The turn lane turned green, but we were still red. The lady next to me just up and goes. Then when she almost hit someone who was turning in front of her, she honks and throws her arms up.

I got up next to her at the next light, yep, she was yapping on the phone.

Our brains can only concentrate on so many things at once. I'd prefer if you were driving, that that's what your brain was concentrating on, since your car can kill my family - thank you very much.

Re: Driving and Cell Phones

Talking on a cell phone and driving at the same time is harder than walking and chewing gum. People should realize this and try to either use a headphone or talk on "speaker."

Re: Driving and Cell Phones

I noticed someone driving today and they were talking but using both hands to drive....I guess that's how they think they can justify it...but he was cradling the phone like we mothers do when we are holding the kid in one arm and cooking with the other hand....it just didn't even look safe!!

Re: Driving and Cell Phones

I have to admit I talk on my cell phone and drive. We have long stretches of the hwy, and I will talk then. I don't do it in town because it is a distraction.

I don't use the cell phone often while driving, and when I do I try to pay extra attention to driving, even if it means having to ask the person I'm talking with to repeat things. Unfortunately, my kids don't come with a mute button, nor do they listen when I tell them I'm busy driving, please do your fighting and tantrums later.

Re: Driving and Cell Phones

A close friend of mine was killed while driving and talking on the cell phone. He was trying to talk and shift gears, lost control and that was all it took.

That reminds me of a funny story someone told me one day about how he solved a dispute which occurred between his 2 kids while riding in the car. They were fighting over a stuffed animal. He took the toy from them and tossed it out the window. Perhaps it is time for some cell phones to be tossed out as well.
