Some even acknowledged that Kerry an Co.'s "pro-war" stance was designed to rope in moderates and veterans.
Exerpt: Quote:
A delegate from Fort Lauderdale, Michael Lockwood, joked that ''at times, the convention sounded Republican,'' but he was willing to support Kerry's efforts ``to reach to the middle-to-moderates and veterans.''
Peterson and other Democrats with military experience said that antiwar speeches, or mocking the current commander-in-chief, would have repelled some potential Kerry voters. What was clear at the convention is that Democrats are so united by their resolve to drive Bush from office that they are willing to paper over real differences that could quickly emerge if a President Kerry grappled with Iraq or some other crisis.
