Does he really need to tell you? All you need do is look no further than his voting record in the Senate. He has been labelled the most liberal Senator (with John Edwards almost right up there with him....so much for "balance" on this ticket). If you support raising taxes (thereby risk the prompting of another recession), restoring the marriage penalty tax, estate taxes, having our military forces answering to the UN, keeping PBA legal, then Kerry just may be your man.

Re: Slim Fast Sheds Whoopi

The Democrats have no platform. And democrat voters are stuck with a candidate so lame that all they can do is vote for "anybody but Bush". What kind of platform is that?

Re: Slim Fast Sheds Whoopi

Firefighters think Kerry's got a platform.
Quote:
John Kerry is the cosponsor of IAFF's SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) legislation that authorizes 7.7 billion dollars over the next ten years to hire 75,000 new firefighters in order to address the critical staffing shortages that plague over two-thirds of the nation's fire departments. He has also been involved in a number of other endeavors on behalf of firefighters including fighting for more funding for fire equipment and sponsoring a bill to provide parity to federal firefighters with their municipal counterparts in classifying certain cancers and heart ailments as job related ailments.
Ya wanna know how they feel about Bush???

Re: Slim Fast Sheds Whoopi

Exerpt from article Troll has linked above (2nd link):
Quote:
The two unions rejected Bloomberg's proposal to boost salaries by at least 5 percent plus a $1,000 bonus over three years. Bloomberg is demanding productivity savings to pay for raises.
Is it my imagination or is it a pattern among unions that they decide what their demands are and seldom (if ever) to they even meet management/gov't halfway? I am not impressed.

Re: Slim Fast Sheds Whoopi

Please let me be sarcastic, its just so fun to do. CG's post fills me with sarcastic thoughts as I can't believe that Kerry's platform is being identified by Firefighters. So not only is he not standing up for what he believes in (except he is not Bush) but he is so wishy washy that others have to make his stand for him. I am going to LAUGH MY BUTT off for the next 4 years if Kerry is at the helm. Maybe the firefighters can move in with him, and help him with all his other major decisions.

Re: Slim Fast Sheds Whoopi

5 percent isn't "cost of living". 5 percent isn't "adjusted for inflation". 5 percent is practically a FREEZE on pay increases, for cops and firefighters in New York City.

So, yeah 'Cat..., it IS your IMAGINATION...

Where is the money supposed to come from, Troll? Has it occurred to you that perhaps the people of NYC are so badly overtaxed that it is not a reasonable thing for this union to ask for its members to be paid more? If they are so darned hard up for more money, why don't they do something else for a living? I get so tired of hearing these types of stories (union thugs strong-arming city/county gov'ts, managements into doing what they want them to do). The age of the usefulness of unions has passed, and they are still too darned powerful for anyone's good.

Are you suggesting that because these guys may have participated in the wake of those horrid attacks that they should have a huge raise? That's pretty crass, to say the very least. If these people are in it (firefighting) for the money......I have some beachfront property in Nevada yada yada....

I think it is important to bear in mind when one is a gov't employee (this would include of course, city, county employees) just who funds their payroll: Mr. & Mrs. Taxpayer. So.....when they embark on a tangent demanding more pay, they are saying in effect.....RAISE TAXES!!! Do they care? They should. Leaning too hard on the American taxpayer, IMHO, is reprehensible. Get a part time job. Sell that 3rd car. Give up that 3rd TV. Stop eating out 4 times a week. These are just examples, but you get the drift, I am sure.

Are you saying in so many words, Troll, that due to the incidence of corporate corruption, that it is okay to skewer the **** out of the American taxpayer? Surely you jest.

A HUGE raise? Are you joking? 5% is huge? And I love how you say they "may have participated." Why don't you become one of those firefighters if you think they don't deserve a measley 5% raise?

Re: Slim Fast Sheds Whoopi

Who doesn't need a raise? If I had a raise I would be able to pay more in taxes. So let me get this right, Kerrys BIG platform is getting the firemen about a buck more an hour???? HOLY COW!!! I am blushing for him.

Re: Slim Fast Sheds Whoopi

hmmmm so his big goal for his presidency is going to stretch out over 10 years. Like THAT will happen. Thats just Kerry being the nice guy and covering his butt when it doesn't happen.

"Oh I didn't say it would happen this year, we have TEN years to implement these changes."
