The leftiest big city on the Left Coast was Clinton country on Monday, with former President Clinton continuing his blockbuster book tour and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton headlining a Democratic fund-raiser where she vowed to defeat the Republicans' "extraordinarily ruthless machine."

Headlining an appearance with other Democratic women senators on behalf of Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is up for re-election this year, Hillary Clinton told several hundred supporters -- some of whom had ponied up as much as $10,000 to attend -- to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed by President Bush if Democrats win the White House and control of Congress.

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Unbelievable. Inconceivable. And yet, I must confess... perhaps Michael Moore IS right about his "stupid American" assertion. I just don't want to believe it.

I don't care if they take away the tax cuts for the rich as long as they keep the child tax credit the same. Also I think the marriage penalty one and the lower tax brackets on the bottom half are good.

Why should it not matter if they take the tax cuts away from the rich? Did the rich steal that money? Did the money just fall out of the sky into their laps? Does gov't have a better idea than they do as to how they spend that money? Suppose they worked really hard for that money? What if they use that money to create more jobs, provide better health insurance for their employees, give raises to their employees, or provide 401K accounts for their employees?

With attitudes such as that which is reflected in the quote above, is it any small wonder that people like Michael Moore think Americans are stupid? Is it any wonder that Hillary can make statements that are (for all practical purposes) right out of the Communist Manifesto and people don't notice, let alone rise up in a fury of indignation?

I just don't think Hillary and Co. are too into surrounding themselves with people who are not like them, Troll. I don't see what is so outlandish about that assumption. Hillary won't even allow a news conference to take place with her unless thorough screening of questions (and people allowed in as well) has taken place beforehand. That should tell you plenty about how much she likes to have complete control (as much as humanly possible) over everything that goes on around her.

The US administration has axed an interview that First Lady Laura Bush had been due to give to Irish public television RTE, two days after the broadcaster's exclusive interview with the US President himself.

No explanation has been given for the schedule change.

However, journalists travelling with the Bush entourage in Europe note that the cancellation comes a day after George W Bush's showing in his RTE exclusive.

That interview was given on Thursday in Washington.

During the conversation, Mr Bush displayed annoyance when he was contradicted by Irish journalist Carole Coleman.

"Let me finish please. Let me answer your question and then you'll follow up," a visibly annoyed Mr Bush told her.

My point is still that while lots of the [u]uber[/i]-rich don't love paying taxes, they consider part of the price they pay for living so well off in a free society. They aren't getting hurt when they lose another $20,000, since that's just a couple of campaign fundraisers they won't be attending this year. They have no interest in a rise of communism, they understand that that would be bad for them as well as everyone else.

And to assume that they're all socialist and "elite" (whatever that means...) is the same as assuming that the rest of them are all corrupt.

I was looking at one of Mayor's links (hillaryworshipssatan.com, or something like that---)...!

When one of her "big lies" is that she claimed that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary", ONLY she didn't actually claim such..., I'm just so NOT impressed! But that's Limbaugh for ya, I guess!
