Shocked Holy moly! NY Times skewers Klinton!

If I didn't read it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it.

Quote:
The Pastiche of a Presidency, Imitating a Life, in 957 Pages
By MICHIKO KAKUTANI

s his celebrated 1993 speech in Memphis to the Church of God in Christ demonstrated, former President Bill Clinton is capable of soaring eloquence and visionary thinking. But as those who heard his deadening speech nominating Michael Dukakis at the 1988 Democratic National Convention in Atlanta well know, he is also capable of numbing, self-conscious garrulity.

Unfortunately for the reader, Mr. Clinton's much awaited new autobiography "My Life" more closely resembles the Atlanta speech, which was so long-winded and tedious that the crowd cheered when he finally reached the words "In closing . . ."

The book, which weighs in at more than 950 pages, is sloppy, self-indulgent and often eye-crossingly dull — the sound of one man prattling away, not for the reader, but for himself and some distant recording angel of history.

And to make things ever better...

------------------------

Quote:
Bill Clinton loses his temper with David Dimbleby during a BBC television interview to be broadcast this week when he is repeatedly quizzed about his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Visibly angry: Bill Clinton
The former American president, famed for his amiable disposition, becomes visibly angry and rattled, particularly when Dimbleby asks him whether his publicly declared contrition over the affair is genuine.

His outrage at the line of questioning during the 50-minute interview, to be broadcast on Panorama on Tuesday night, lasts several minutes. It is the first time that the former President has been seen to lose his temper publicly over the issue of his sexual liaisons with Ms Lewinsky.

The President initially responds to Dimbleby's questions by launching a general attack on media intrusion. When the broadcaster persists with the question of whether the politician was truly penitent, Clinton directs his anger towards Dimbleby.

Thus will Clinton's legacy be. Impeached President who lied under oath and had sexual relations with an intern. A disgrace which the history books may actually get right, if this near term reaction is a oracle of things to come.

And we conservatives, who knew from BEFORE he was elected, will comfortably recline and say, "we told you so". HUGE grin for justice.

Well, what does anyone expect?? Wife and First Lady Hillary was the de facto Prez. What was there for Willie to do but entertain his little pal?? Enter Monica Lewinsky.........and the rest is history.

Wonder if and when this particular interview will be available on TV here in the US.

Is that the worst thing you can say about him? That he had an affair? Hey, I agree, that is not a good thing but come on... can't you come up with something worse than that?

Well, lying to a Grand Jury is pretty bad. Allowing terrorist acts against Americans abroad and here on US soil to take place and do virtually nothing about them are pretty bad. What makes it worse is the fact that these are true stories, not just rumors.

Re: Holy moly! NY Times skewers Klinton!

You're right, bobbcat. He should have invaded Iraq immediately-after all they may have someday harmed us. He should have given up hundreds of young American lives and put our country billions and billions of dollars in debt and lost our country many good friends. Instead, he had an affair and lied to a grand jury. You can lie to the whole country or whole world about your mistaken facts, but not something that may impact our lives so profoundly as an affair. and still Osama and Hussein live.

Re: Holy moly! NY Times skewers Klinton!

No no no... my point is NOT that this is all he did. My point was the NY Times was so harsh to him... they are his FRIENDS!

For a complete list of the attrocities committed by Bill and Hillary Clinton, feel free to spend several days here.

It's the most comprehensive and well-documented/referenced site on the topic. Where to start? Treason? Criminal investigations? The military? National security? Obstruction? There are SO many.

Leisurely reading for a Sunday afternoon. Enjoy :-)

Re: Holy moly! NY Times skewers Klinton!

Well, Mayor, it's the darn conservative media. I just wanted to say that for a long time. To be honest, I have not heard many good reviews of Clinton's book. I think he should have waited much longer to write it. I also don't believe a lot of the things on the alamo girl site. But I agree with you-it's surprising to hear that from the Times. I'm off to try to spread Fathers Day happiness. I hope all you Fathers have a very nice day.

Whether you like it or not, patti1, we are going to have to fight Islamic terrorists either on US soil or on their soil. Which choice would you rather it be? I gather from the tone of your post above that you would rather it take place here. Bush apparently disagrees with that point of view. What a shame.
