LA Times polling bias?

Developing on Drudge.. I suspect there will be more to the story soon.
-------------------------
TWISTED: LA Times Poll Had Sample With 38% Democrats, 25% Republicans
Tue Jun 15 2004 10:13:47 ET

Sen. John Kerry "has taken big lead," according "to an L.A. Times poll."

But the Times poll that showed Kerry "beating Bush by 7 points" has created a controversy over whether the poll's sample accurately reflects the population as whole, ROLL CALL reports on Tuesday.

"Not counting independents, the Times' results were calculated on a sample made up of 38 percent Democrats and 25 percent Republicans -- a huge and unheard-of margin," ROLL CALL claims.

Re: LA Times polling bias?

Yes-That's why poll's can be done to show what result you want from Conservative to Liberal.
Remember Poll's are only good if your candidate of choice is leading

Thank you mrbowler, for posting that link above. It was no fun hearing my fave talk show host [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] predicting today that John Kerry will win this fall. Are the American people really that stupid? I surely hope not.

Re: LA Times polling bias?

Well just try to get a sampling from numerous polls-hopefully all of them aren't bias

The Only Poll that really matters is Election Day! Remember the Presidency is Important, but control in Congress should be watched also. Hmmm...I predict that come Election Day the press will report that it's to close to call

Had some funny comments:

Politics? I'm a confirmed Libertarian. I believe that the principal difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Democrats just want to grow our Imperial Federal Government a bit faster than the Republicans do.

Well, they were stupid enough to elect George W. Bush!

Oh wait, he didn't get the popular vote. Maybe they really aren't that stupid. I guess we are only an electorally stupid nation - to be fair.

For what its worth, I don't believe everyone who voted for Gore is stupid. I believe there are three camps that make up the democrat vote.

1) The lazy clueless faction. Primarily the people who get their news from mainstream media and believe exactly what they are told without question. Typically known on both sides of the spectrum as "moderate", these people don't really know what they believe.

2) The uneducated and ignorant. Minority groups led by individuals such as Jesse Jackson do not realize that the hand that promises to feed them is the one that destroys them.

3) The immoral. Basically, these are the godless individuals who rebel against traditional morality. The feel perfectly at home in the liberal wing and they know why. This makes up the minority of the group, but they are the most vocal and most championed by mainstream media.

Ahhhh... So by "uneducated and ignorant" and "led by Jesse Jackson" you're referring to...???

Mayor[/QUOTE]

Could you explain further. Are you saying that anyone who is liberal moderate to conservative moderate don't know what they believe?-so in your mind does that mean there are only Liberal's and Conservatives-you can't favor some conservative ideals & also favor some liberal ideals??

What is so funny, Troll?

Here's an article that may enlighten you:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

It's a shame though, that this author does not delve into the anti-education, anti-work ethic that permeates the culture in some segments of society, those in which many of these lagging students dwell.

Re: LA Times polling bias?

What segments of society, specifically, are your referring to? (I'm still laughing! )

Anyone else see that flick Soul Man with C. Thomas Howell and James Earl Jones???

[EDIT:] I went to the most ethnically and economically diverse high school in the entire Los Angeles Unified School District. Also attended two of the less diverse schools; one mostly white, and the other mostly black. Also bounced around a lot for college. The article you posted was the opposite of "enlightening".

If you can't figure it out after reading that article (you did read it, did you not?), I am not going to explain it. Those types of games I don't play.

According to what standard? I get the impression that you are not very open minded.

Re: LA Times polling bias?

I figured it out before I read the article. Just wanted to see if you had the cojones to admit it.

And..., still laughing!

Re: LA Times polling bias?

To admit what? And I still don't understand what is driving your derision. It casts a rather poor reflection on you, BTW. Just strikes me as a way to avoid engaging in a real debate. Who is displaying the cojones here?

So, all Democrats are either lazy, uneducated or immoral. I can't even begin to explain how ridiculous that is.

But since you have just offended half the American population with your (incorrect) opinion, I'll have a hand at it too. I think the Republican vote is split into three camps too!

1.) The *******s. They only care about themselves, and think no one should get "government handouts" based on the fact that they weren't given any as a child, and their parents did just fine! No one should be helped, until they need to call 911, or if there's a flood in their town and they need help since they lost their homes (but, but, but it's different, you see, I didn't bring the flood on myself!).

2.) The backward and the racists. Either they were raised in some hick town and taught by their mommys and daddys to be the same as everyone else in the family has been for at least a century or so, or, just as long as the the upper and upper middle class white folks get what they want, and can afford to send their kids to private schools where everyone looks, thinks and acts the same, and get nice tax breaks. Oh, they have "(a) black friend(s)", of course, but "they aren't like the rest of them."

3.) The religious hypocrites. Jesus loves everyone, and so do I. Just as long as a)my damn taxes don't have to pay for it, b)you have only heterosexual relationships, c)you worship the same god as I do, d)you agree to kill people who commit crimes, e)I have the right to carry a semi-automatic machine gun (to shoot deer), f)I can get drunk every day of my life, smoke cigarettes, get high from diet pills and Nyquil, but you can't smoke no joints! and g)I want the government to stay out of everyone's business unless of course you are a woman seeking an abortion!

Now, of course you will agree that was totally ridiculous. Of course you don't fall into any of those categories, not in the slightest bit. You aren't a racist, after all, you love Condoleeza Rice! You love Colin Powell! Of course you or Bush aren't racist. And you aren't afraid to send your children to public school, you just think they are "getting a better education". And of course you couldn't be a hypocrite, because the Bible condemns homosexuals, the Bible told you Jesus was the son of God, the Bible told you that it should be legal for any person to walk inside a Wal-Mart and buy a gun to accidentally kill the little girl next door with when she's hit by a stray bullet intended for a grown person who was arguing with them over the property line (oh wait, no it didn't). You "love the sinner, hate the sin," after all, there's nothing more loving than that.

You see, it's just STUPID for me to say all this, and it was the same when you did it. Generalizing every person on earth who doesn't think the way you do, because of the fact that they grew up under different circumstances, saw different things, met different people, ate different foods, went to a different church, went to no church at all, grew up with less money, grew up with more money, got a worse education than you, got a better education than you, grew up in another era, smoked more weed, got less drunk, watched more TV, read more books or WHATEVER, is WRONG.
