And Spain has now gone socialist. Amazing how people will panic in time of crisis and do the most insane things. That's how Hitler came into power. Mayor

Spain's fearful retreat is a great victory for the terrorists. I predict lots more such attacks on nations that stand up against terrorism...it has never been easy to stand up against such threats. Kerry will no doubt retreat also, if he is elected.

Spain's conservative party (Aznar's: he declined to run, fulfilling a promise not to seek another term) went against the will of 90% of the people and supported the war in Iraq. Sending troops, that will soon (June 30th?) return to Spain. I think that there was a pretty good possibility that, regardless of pre-election polls, that Aznar's party was going to lose. Polls are notoriously fickle, and post-vote interviews indicated that it was the ANGER of the Iraq Invasion (against the will of a great majority of Spainards) that led to the ruling party's loss. And, a perception by Spainards, that Aznar was not answering their questions, with regards to the train bombings. TWO DAYS after the attacks, the Spainards demanded answers. More than 2 1/2 years later: where are the answers to 9/11?? IN COMMITTEE?? |

Like I said, it takes a lot of guts to stand up to terrorism. Not much of that going around...

I think the question is: where IS terrorism the greatest threat? Was it REALLY in Iraq? Saddam was a TERROR to his people; I don't think he would cotton to intrusions by OTHER terrorists. Too risky for his hold on power in Iraq. Bush made a fatal error (MO, and the opinion of many others) by subverting troops from Afghanistan and The Search for Bin Laden to Iraq (and The Overthrow of Saddam Hussein). Bush' focus on Iraq as A War (if not, THE War) on terror was a mistake. The voters in Spain understood this, and voted out The Party that supported this mistake. |

Before we start firing bullets, let us be pretty darn positive we are firing at those responsible for the bad doings.
