I think the world is a dangerous place and if I say any more we'll have to move this thread to Religion and Politics. ;-) Mayor

I do not understand how someone could kill even one person, let alone 200 innocent people. There is such hate and violence in some people's hearts. I just don't understand.

LOL!!! Yep!! I watched something (like I ever remember the names of shows...) anyhow...last night it was about a border between US and Mexico and how they tried to come into the US and they shot this couples son....and the mother is an advocate to get better patrol borders now....but her comment was ....shouldn't we more so worry how to control what is happeneing in our own country rather than running abroad?? I tend to agree. We have so much happening here....

I guess I am surprised that there isn't more discussion on this. Is this country far enough away that we can't relate to the bombings there? Without even getting into political issues, I thought there would be more sympathy expressed for the people of Spain.

This lefty thinks its horrible, isn't it amazing that people actually think violence solves anything!

I can't speak for others, but it just felt a little trite saying "I think it's horrible," as if anyone felt otherwise. I prefer to grieve in private. I have a friend in Spain and I've been in touch with him, but otherwise, I don't know what to discuss besides the obvious: killing is bad and this world needs more peace and less killing. I don't know why a death should be any more or less tragic if a 'leftie' is involved. Now that makes me sad, that some people reduce everything to hating another side. Well, that is how we get to killing for control. |

It is terrible, but one of the sad facts of terrorism is many people get desensitized to it. I remember watching a movie called "Brazil" (which is actually one of my favorites and I'll be reviewing on my blog shortly). Terrorism is common and when it happens, many people just carry on with their activities even when people are laying bleeding and dying around them. It's a sad statement but one that rings quite true. People are looking for someone to "fix it", but they are often willing to do anything to make it happen. It is out of this kind of desperation that world leaders like Hitler rise to the top. And I think I'll go ahead and move this thread to R & P now. :-) Mayor

Thank you for knowing the difference Pip. What I said came true, politics entered the tragedy from the left side of the stage. Now let's exit stage right. |
