Thumbs up I have just seen the PASSION!!! Please read!!!

Believers and Non-believers,

Well, DH and I just returned from seeing "The Passion of the Christ". Let me say this, it was a very emotional experience for (what seemed) everyone in the theatre including DH and myself. I can see why so much heart was put into this film, and I do not think that it could have been any better. I will not give details to the movie because I am sure that some of you have yet to see it and I do not want to take away from your experience. But I will say this......

The violence in the movie was horrid, yes, but no more than you would see in your average horror flick or action movie. The one particular fact that I left with is that the violence is hard to bare because it has a "personal connection". We have heard of the pain that Jesus suffered, but to watch it so graphically displayed is what makes it so hard to watch. Since I believe that this movie was based on the most accurate facts that Mel Gibson could portray regarding Jesus' crucifixion, it made the brutal mistreatment hard to watch. All of the discussion about the violence is well mentioned by anyone who questions the thought of seeing this movie. If you want to see it, do not let this hold you back. It is worth it to see this movie. The events just could not be deterred. What was told to happen, happened.

I hope that if any or all of you have the chance to see this movie that you go.

Sincerely,
Jennifer

I believe that you were moved beyond words when you saw this movie. But, can someone who is NOT a Christian please post on here if you have seen this and what you thought? Thank you.

Why don't you go see it, and then post your review.

I didn't mean to come across as being flip. Honestly, I just am curious to hear a reaction from someone who is not a believer. Did it change your mind or, at least, make you think about becoming a believer?

"Luvmetender", I was responding to "Scoozie". Sorry for the confusion. I too am interested in non-believers response to the movie.

Re: I have just seen the PASSION!!! Please read!!!

jjhmom, I'm sorry as well. I truley wasn't trying to be offensive. I feel that this is a very important movie for people to see. I've seen it, and was deeply touched and moved. Like you, I cried throughout about the whole film. I was just encouraging luvmetender to go see the movie herself instead of waiting for another non-Christian to see it and give the review. Perhaps she could be that person. Again, I apologize if anything was taken the wrong way. I think luvmetender is very well spoken and would be able to give a very good review of the movie from the non-Christian standpoint, in fact, I would be very curious to hear her opinion. I personally feel that everyone should see the movie. I feel that each person who sees it comes away with something different. Religious believe and faith is so individualized.

I don't see why non-Christians wouldn't go see this movie. From what I hear, it's a deeply moving movie for EVERYONE.

Do you have to be from middle-earth to go see Lord of the Rings?

I have heard that many non believers are seeing the movie. Jesus did exist, and many are curious to see what the historical aspects are. My husband is going with a bunch of trucker friends he works with, many of them not Christian.

LOL Shainie!! Good one!

BTW, this non-believer is going to wait until the movie comes out on video and then I'll be happy to post my thoughts on it.

Was it more violent that what the Christians did to natives during the Crusades and Spanish Inquisitio? From what I've read that's about as violent as you get.

Well, that's important to remember, that only Christians will want to go to this movie, so the 'target audience' is preselected to respond more favorably than the general public with any movie.

I don't think you can get an objective review of the movie because the type of person who wants to see this movie isn't able to be rational about history and religion anyway.

I, personally, would never give My hard-earned money to a man who says the Jews didn't suffer that bad in the Holocaust--I'd feel dirty praising that type of behavior.

I would not find the movie "moving," please. What is moving about watching a bunch of violent freaks get off on torturing someone?

And what led you to the conclusion that only Christians will want to see it? I have several non-believing friends who have seen or are going to see it.

There are plenty of "objective" reviews out there in mainstream media, both by people who wanted to see the movie and those who saw it because it was their job to do so and report on it afterwards.

Been here, done this. Mel Gibson has come forward several times to say that he does not share his father's views on the Holocaust, so this is a non-issue.

That description makes it sound like just about every horror flick in existence! The "violent freaks" are not the moving part, but I'm sure you know that.

I'm not a Christian but I would like to see the movie.

Where did you even get this idea from?

Well, technically, you'll never get an objective opinion on anything since we're all biased in some way. I'd love to find anyone that has no opinion on anything. You can still give a good review of something even with a bias.

For example, you continue to make these statements about Mel Gibson when he has already said he doesn't feel that same way. Why do you do this?

See here. Your bias is showing. If you look at the 'big picture' as to what the movie is about, you'll see why it should be moving to someone.

It's about the sacrifice Jesus made for humans. The torturing you refer to is simply what happens during that process.

Do you understand the difference?

Oh my dear, you missed a very important fact in your little arguement. You imply I said no one would find the moving moving. I never said that. Of course some will. That's why they decided to go! In fact I already said most people going to the movie WILL like it. That's my whole point about not being able to be objective.

I said *I* would not find it moving. That is my right. I do not find violent movies moving, no. Never have never will.

Do you understand the difference?

I don't know anyone who has seen the movie, and only 1 who wants to see it, our secretary at work. Most people I know are Christian, but have no interest in seeing the movie. But certainly, of the atheistis, agnostics, Jewish people I know, NO ONE has an interest in seeing the movie. That's my experience so far. It doesn't mean there aren't non-christians who want to see it. Of course, some do, some don't. However, my experience so far is that most don't. Why should they? The very point of NOT believing means they DON'T believe!LOL! If it didn't happen, it can't be moving! LOL
