Exclamation Ralph Nader for president?

The news tonight had Ralph Nader announcing he is running for president under the Independent Party. The last time he did that he took votes away from Al Gore. Whose votes will he take this time?

Re: Ralph Nader for president?

I'm all for freedom of this and that, but I do feel that he will take votes away from a candidate that may actually have a chance of winning this election. Talk about an ego trip! He did terrible the last time he ran, what is he thinking?

Re: Ralph Nader for president?

When I heard this yesterday it really pissed me off!! WTF!! (Those of you who know me know I rarely curse but Geez Louise!) I am irate.

I used to like Ralph Nader but I don't anymore. Besides, if I heard the news correctly the Green Party isn't supporting him anymore so he is on his own and only going to compete in the states that he did well in last time.

If I were Karl Rove, I'd be dancing a jig right now and trying to figure out a way to get Nader more $$.

If Nader got a lot of votes away from Al Gore then it absolutely KILLS me to think of the votes he could take from Kerry. AARRGGHHH!!!!

Re: Ralph Nader for president?

That doomoss! Why so late!?!?

Hopefully people will now realize that voting for Nader still won't get him into the presidency because voting for him could mean 4 more years of Bush. He doesn't have that much support. We need change but Nader isn't the one to do it. It's the same as not voting by voting for Nader because he lacks support and money for an effective campaign. I like Nader. But I'm not going to waste my vote on him out of spite for the other parties.

BTW....Nader didn't take votes away from Gore. Bush finagled votes from Gore in Florida.

Re: Ralph Nader for president?

Don't know if it is true but I heard Dean's supporters are P.O'ed at Kerry so they encouraged Nader to run.

I truly believe that Nader took votes away from Gore. The people that voted for Nader would not have voted for Bush if Nader wasn't running. (I hope that makes sense!)

Re: Ralph Nader for president?

Ok...no, it doesn't really make sense..lol
The people that voted for Nader would have never voted for Bush because that would have completely gone against everything they voted for Nader about in the first place. Like doing a 360 in the voting process. The people that voted for Nader should have voted for Gore if Nader wasn't running. Otherwise they would have been going the completely opposite direction with their views by voting for Bush. Does that make sense? LOL

I think the real key to this election is going to be to get the people that don't vote into the process. There are so many more people that don't vote than people that actually do vote. That's shameless for this country!

If Bush can't win without Nadar messing up the votes, he's in sorry shape.
Sorta sad if you can't win based on your own merits and need Nadar to siphon off votes from your opponent.

Re: Ralph Nader for president?

You're saying, in a round about way, that Nader could have been summoned by the republicans to run to even up the playing field? That's entirely possible. Anything is possible these days in politics.

You say that like it's a bad thing...

Actually, it's more accurate to say that the Democratic leadership believes that minorities and poor people are too stupid to punch a hole in a piece of paper and so now complain about it at every opportunity. But that's a subject that's time has past...

Yeah Telos...either way, Nader throws a wrench into the machine as far as this election goes. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure.
