I just got thru ordering my tickets online for The Passion of the Christ. I just can not wait to see this movie, but I have heard from many people that have seen a screening of it and said that they cried uncontrollably!

Do you plan on seeing it?

I hadn't even heard of it 'til i saw your post. Where have I been? We usually wait 'til movies come out on video, so I guess I'll say maybe.

Hubby was watching the news today and they interviewed a man who paid $65,000 for tickets. He bought out 6 theaters and gave the comment that he wanted everyone he knew to see the movie!

I heard that it is extremely violent because it depicts what many believe actually happened to Jesus. I don't think I can handle that much violence. I cry whenever I see a re-enactment of the Passion so this one would probably be too much to take! I really applaud Mel Gibson for doing this, tho. He directed it and used his own millions to finance it! The interview with Diane Sawyer Monday night was really good altho she seemed to not see his humor when he would make a joke!

Well Mel Gibson's interview with Diane Sawyer i thought was good. But she was quite cold i felt toward him during the interview. He made it quite clear that this movie was not made with anti anything in mind. Other priests and rabi's who have seen the movie have all said the same thing, THE MOVIE IS NOT ANTI JEWISH. What they fear is the viewer will interpert it as such. Mel said at one point in the interview. "it is against my faith to be racist towards anyone or any faith". And the last 12 hours of Christs life were violent. I don't think he wanted to turn this into a disney song and dance or a great date movie.

I absolutely will see it, and fully expect that I will be one of those sobbing. Just thinking about it makes my eyes well up.

I agree about Diane Sawyer. Maybe she was just trying to stay as unemotional as possible, given that this type of topic is controversial, and she wanted to keep her personal feelings out of it. But she was a little TOO professional, in my opinion.

As I said in my other post, I think the message in the film will make an impact on many, many people. I think it will be just like it was in Jesus' time. Some will reject it (either after seeing the film or by not seeing it at all), some will be changed by it, some will be renewed by it.

That's what I usually do, too. I rarely see a film in the theater, but some I just want to see on the big screen, and this is one of them. Plus, I don't think I could wait until it comes out on DVD, when it's available in the theater.

Nope, wont be seeing it...I am not interested in any movie that has anything to do with religion of any type...don't believe in any religion.

I would like to see it at the theater, but don't know if I'll get a chance. Might have to wait for the DVD.
