This may be news to both of them, as the relationship is admittedly distant, but The Associated Press reports that two genealogy buffs in Hawaii have proof that Bush and Kerry share the same bloodline. They're also related to Charlemagne, Walt Disney, and Marilyn Monroe, which adds an even more colorful ancestral line for both.

The exact relationship between Kerry and Bush, besides political competitors, is 16th cousins, three times removed, according to genealogists Bruce and Kristine Harrison, who are publishers of historical databases. Mr. Harrison told AP that tracing ancestries illuminates a larger message about our human connectedness. "I believe everybody on the planet is related if you go back far enough," he told AP.
