I don't get it. They claim that she tried to up her stock by saying she was innocent. WELL WHAT THE **** WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO DO? Say "I'm guilty," I mean come on! I think that charge is ridiculous and unfair. Why should someone be forced to sit back while others make accusations about them?

The other charge, lying to investigators, is fine, but I hardly think it should get you 30 years in prison!
The Enron prosecution is still developing, but don't be surprised if some serious jail time comes out of it. Also, think about this: One of the top five biggest accounting firms in the world is dead due to this. Thousands of jobs and billions of dollars were lost.

While the charge isn't insider trading, it's related to it. Same difference. Besides not all lies are created equal.

Re: Martha Stewart - What do you think?

I find this kind of funny and this proves that what comes around goes around.

Martha Stewart is not a nice woman. When I worked for a local bookstore chain in NC, we had her at a book signing. Out of all the authors that we ever had across the state, she stood out as the one most rude to the employees. She freaked out when we didn't have her favorite brand of bottled water and was really plain mean. You reap what you sow, I guess.

Thank you for sharing that! It's easy to dismiss "Hollywood gossip" - like the movie they made about her - but when someone familiar (i.e., a fellow DOD'er) has had a personal experience that backs up what others say, it's much more compelling. Sorry to hear it's true, though! I always hold out hope that these folks aren't as bad as the press and/or Hollywood makes them out to be...

I know her, we used to play spades together online. She was my partner. Yes, she was mean, she was a total Biotch. But that doesn't mean she is guilty.

Re: Martha Stewart - What do you think?

As it has been said time and time again in Hollywood, "any publicity is good publicity"! Martha Stewart will actually end up making more money after spending her 5 months in jail than had she just not made that stock transaction. Nothing like a HUGE payday for breaking the law!
well me and my mom always listen to her show in Sirius radio [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] that’s EST-9:00am.. Well in spite of her issues right now she is still a trendsetter... it doesn’t mean that Martha is a bad person. Well in most cases people would say that she is a criminal... But when you going to think that Martha is still a good person and she’s a good talk show host too..

many thanks!
