OMG! Iraq Invasion Planned BEFORE 9/11!

CBS News will report on Sunday's 60 minutes on secret documents that prove the Iraq invasion was planned just days after George W. Bush took office. Oil, and ousting Saddam were the driving forces behind the covert planning!

One of the most damning pieces on the motivation for invasion is a Pentagon document titled "Foreign Suitors For Iraqi Oilfield Contracts," which outlines areas of OIL exploration in Iraq.

Were we sold a "bill of goods" with all the talk about nuclear weapons, first strike capabilities, and chemical/biological weapons, in order for our government to disingenuously justify this war to the American people and the world? Why was the Pentagon planning on doling out Iraqi oil contracts well before the invasion, or even 9-11? Did the Pentagon, under the Direction of Donald Rumsfeld, feel in early 2001 it was now in the business of controlling oil field production?

I Don't know how the documents leaked out. We will have to watch the piece on tomorrow's 60 Minutes to get more information.

Do you think the reason Administration lowered the alert level yesterday was because they didn't want a high alert level juxtaposed with the 60 Minute press release sent out the same day? They have used domestic political situations in the past to lower and raise the levels of alert, are they doing it again?

If the governement means for things to be kept private I feel they will keep things private.

Also, wasn't Saddam violating the UN requirements on nuclear weapons for many years?

If it was planned just days after he took office (2000)then why did it take so long to go?

Also, please keep in mind that just because it is said to be "secret" documents and that 60 minutes is reporting it it does not make it true.

Since I already have one warning, I'll be very careful with my wording. Yes, LMT.. There are many communists. Some who still have a stranglehold on a vast majority of their populations..

China, for instance, is very much communist. Their population is well over 1 Billion. North Korea, is another communist nation. Cuba is another. VietNam one more.

These are just the few nations I could name off the top of my head.

Now, to be a socialist nation is kinda like communist-lite. I certainly can't name all the nations that are socalist. There are far too many to list.

Now a plan for an invasion doesn't mean that that invasion is going to actually happen. There were (maybe still are) plans for an ICBM attack on Russia (formerly USSR)

There are contingency plans for a nuclear attack on a US city, biological.. etc.

There are plans for what to do if the President dies..

What this does say is that this current administration made the plan to invade Iraq because there wasn't one in the previous administration.

What would have happened had 9/11 happened on Clinton's watch?

I can almost guarantee Saddam would still be in power, killing his citizens, and developing his weapon systems. He'd also be rewarding the families of homicide bombers in Israel. Let's not for get that little tidbit.

What about Afghanistan? It's anyone's guess.

The Cold War ended only 12-ish years ago. The communists then are the same as today.

Technically, I suppose. The main players, however, with the exception of the North Korean (Kim Il Sung, died in 1994) that was alive back in 91/92 are still alive and in charge. Come to think of it, China just had a "changing of the guard" recently, too.

Gorbachev would be the other exception, and last I heard he's running some global water commission or something. That's a story for another thread. He his, however, very much still around.

As a side note, maybe one of these days, we can discuss how these countries got to be communist in the first place.

To think that communism died when the Soviet Empire did would be competely naive, and I believe that Caged Troll would even agree with that.
