Thumbs down What if you were Liberman?

I don't know about you, but I would be seriously torqued that a guy who thought I was good enough to have as a running mate didn't care enough to tell me that he was endorsing another candidate and left me to find out via network news.

Re: What if you were Liberman?

One thing about this whole thing that I don't understand is why Gore announced whom he was supporting already.

Unarguably, Gore is a brilliant man (no comments from the peanut gallery please!) who thinks before he does anything. What was the rush? I don't get it.

I'd be irate if I were Lieberman. Gore could have called Lieberman on the phone and Lieberman wouldn't have leaked it.

On the other side of the coin, Lieberman wouldn't even be running for POTUS if Gore hadn't selected him to be the VP candidate.

Ahhh...what might have been!

Re: What if you were Liberman?

I think I will vote for Lieberman in the primaries. I will count it as another vote against Gore.

Great Telos! Lieberman is my favorite candidate so I am glad to hear you say that.

When is TX's primary anyhow?

Re: What if you were Liberman?

they're reporting that Liebermann's contributions went up by 13X since Gore endorsed Dean.

Do you think you could run a successful campaign on pity?

Not me.

I feel sorry for the guy, but this isn't Class President they're running for.

This is the Big Leagues.

They play rough.

Re: What if you were Liberman?

The "chat" on the liberal boards is that Al called Joe but Joe did not return his call.

Another point bantered about on those boards is that Gore / Lieberman was not a match made in heaven. Lieberman is a conservative Democrat, and has not changed since Election 2000.

On the other hand, Gore has become a much more progressive voice in the Party.

I think Joe is projecting MAJOR Sour Grapes here.

{on edit}: ShainaT: Previously, Gore did say that he would announce his endorsement in December. So it WAS coming, and on schedule.

Re: What if you were Liberman?

I had heard that Al called Joe, too.

5 minutes before his endorsement.

welcome back, jwelch.

I've missed you.

by the way.. Did you see the poll where Dean is behind GWB by 27 points in New Hampshire?

The same time in 1995, Clinton was leading Bob Dole by about 13 or so. Clinton had 38% approval rating, and Bush currently is in the 50's.

just thought I'd lighten your day.

Oh. I didn't know that. I would have thought he would have played it safe and waited until the primaries were over.

FYI - the above post was by Angus... ahh, the joys of sharing a computer!

The question was posed once before about picking one of the Dems if they were the only ones running, and I stand by the answer I gave then... Lieberman. I think he's a good guy with a relatively good head on his shoulders. He got the business end of the shaft from Gore on this one. He's entitled to his sour grapes on this... just hope Gore doesn't swipe 'em and put 'em in his "lockbox"!

Re: What if you were Liberman?

My 12 year old son said someting interesting today. He thinks Dean should ask Gore to be his running mate "because, more than half the people wanted him to be president."

Yep, look for my son to be running in about 2040!

Heehee....it would be like "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride". I don't think he would do it even if Dean asked him to anyway.

Re: What if you were Liberman?

Luvmetender: What a wise son you have!

But accepting the VP slot with Dr. Dean would be a "been there, done that" moment for Al.

His passion now is to fire the Progressive movement in the Democratic Party.

IOW, to go forward, not backward.

And, for the sake of OUR country, I hope he succeeds.

OT: I love your sig line...my DH found a hat with "Outkast" on it @ an outlet store last year. I really like that song from which your sig line originates: "Hey Ya."
