. Personally, I appreciate it when someone is honest enough to swear... it makes me trust them more (call me crazy....) |

So here's a question... if swearing is okay in your book, what about drinking, drug use (not while in office - I hope! - but in their college years), etc. What about a petty criminal record (non-felony crimes)? I'm not trying to smart off either, but I'm curious to know where you draw the line. If swearing makes you trust someone more, what makes you trust them less? |

| Re: Metrosexuals and potty mouths.... How soon we forget: GWB was caught on camera, with an open mic, calling a reporter an "major league a**hole." That's while he was running for President. I guess that's acceptable, since he didn't realize he was being recorded. |

| Re: Metrosexuals and potty mouths.... Hee hee.... I knew someone would bring that up. Quite frankly, I wasn't any too happy with that little incident. He, too, needs to watch his mouth, especially when there may be open mic's around. However, when one KNOWS for certain that what they say is going to be published verbatim, one should try to have just a little more class, imho. |

| Re: Metrosexuals and potty mouths.... Why? That's like encouraging hypocrisy. Kerry's a child of the 60s with an Ivy League education who's served his country in an unpopular war and then went onto to uncover the BCCI scandal. We're going to quibble over a word? And, if we were, there's a difference between saying someone F***ed up, and calling someone an F*** Up. GWB called someone an a**hole, which isn't just vulgar. It's personal. And worse than that is he did it behind the guy's back instead of saying it to his face. I'm feeling like I'm in the third-grade again, not being able to spell out the actual words... |

Seriously, we've come to expect it from the entertainment world (which isn't held to the same standard), but when one has aspirations of leading the U.S., one should mind one's language. It's a pretty simple concept really. These guys spend a rather large chunk of their lives doing public speaking and/or rehearsing/learning about public speaking. They should be well-versed in what is and is not appropriate. (That goes for the occupant of the White House too, no matter which party he (or she) is from!) (LOL on your "third-grade" statement, btw!) |

| Re: Metrosexuals and potty mouths.... I don know which is worse a potty mouth or one that invents his own words, it doesn't speak well of our educational system, does it? I can't say I am offended by the occasional swear word, and what kid 12 and up hasn't heard the "f" word before. My kids don't go running around saying strategery just because Bush used it. My husband and I are responsible for our kids language not a political figure. I would rather hear the "F" word than friggin. it means the same thing but we are supposed to be bothered by that.

Beyond that, my other question still stands... where is the line drawn? If it's not swearing (and apparently, for MANY people around this country, it wasn't adultery), then what is it? A criminal past (non-felony, of course)? Vices the average joe on the street would find disgusting (bestiality, necrophilia, etc)?? Where do we draw the line and say "This person is not fit to be a leader, based on his/her...."? I'd like to know where you all draw the line, really! |

![]() At least GWB is doing something about our shoddy education system instead of just complaining about it like the Democrats have been doing for years.. You know, as I think about it.. That's probably why he's hated so much by them. He's taking the issues they've been complaining about, and actually fixing them. Education, Prescription Drugs.. Quote:
